Goodbye Tour – Live 1968 – Cream (2020) – Everything about the album…

Cream's unreleased songs on the new album "Goodbye Tour - Live 1968" ... And the only concert in memory of Ginger Baker!

Goodbye Tour – Live 1968 (Box-Set) – Cream

Recording company Universal Music Canada has announced the release of a new box set "Goodbye Tour - Live 1968", consisting of 4CD. The album was released on March 6, 2020. This is the first official release of Cream's four historic '68 concerts since their farewell tour.

Three concerts were recorded in California in October 1968: in Oakland, Los Angeles and San Diego, but the fourth - Cream's farewell concert on November 26, 1968 - at London's Royal Albert Hall. Each concert contains previously unreleased tracks. The performance at the Royal Albert Hall has not yet been released on CD, only on DVD.

Excursion into history…

Cream made the announcement of ceasing activity in May 1968 while on tour. They agreed to play more farewell shows: mostly in the US, plus 2 final UK shows at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

Released in February 1969, the Goodbye Tour initially combined live performances from those final shows with several studio recordings. It climbed to #1 in the UK and #2 on the US Billboard.

Goodbye Tour - Live 1968, as the name suggests, updates the last tour recordings with new ones... This historical collection was published by Bill Levenson. The Oakland Coliseum, Los Angeles Forum and San Diego Sports Arena concerts were created from the original 1968 analog mix reels by Kevin Reeves of Universal Mastering. The Royal Albert Hall concert was created on the original 1968 analogue reels, transmitted by Jason Nesmith of Chase Park Transduction.

Goodbye Tour Live 1968

"Goodbye Tour - Live 1968" has 36 tracks, 19 of which will be released for the first time.

“Cream is a cool circus of different personalities. We simultaneously found this catalyst together. And by accident... Any of us could play solo without accompaniment for a long time. And so the three of us were gathered in front of the audience, ready to “wash down” higher and higher, deeper and deeper ... We could do this forever. ... And we ... just flew to the moon every time we played!

— Eric Clapton

Following the death of drummer Ginger Baker last year at the age of 80, Clapton announced a one-off show (dedicated to Cream) on February 17, 2020 in London.

“The set list for the concert will focus on Baker's life in music and will of course include Clapton and Baker's collaboration in Cream, as well as their joint project 'Blind Faith'. Tickets for the concert, of course, are already sold out. This despite the fact that the full list of artists has not yet been announced!
