Who will represent Russia at Eurovision 2021? About Manizha and the song "Russian woman"...
"Who will represent Russia at Eurovision 2021?" - this is the question many have been asking for a year! Because in 2020, because of the pandemic, such a grand and long-awaited event was postponed... And now, on March 8, 2021, the name of the contestant who will represent our country became known: charming, and most importantly - a really talented singer Manizha! The choice was made by the guests of the First channel: everything was done live, by voting... The duet Dva Mashi and Therr Maitz band with Anton Belyaev were also the participants of the selection. But it was this interesting and bright girl who won the audience's sympathy... She will perform the song "Russian Woman" at the contest:
"This song is dedicated to all Russian women - beautiful, bright, incredible ... I'm sure there are many of us! "Russian Woman" is not only about external attractiveness. It's also about the inner strength inherent in all Russian beauties..." - commented the singer herself...
This song brought Manija a victory at the national selection! As the girl herself said, she dedicates this victory to her grandmother... But will "Russian Woman" bring a victory at the most important event of the year? We can only guess and, of course, believe...
Who is Manizha?
When it became known that Manizha would represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest, many people started to wonder: who is she? The fact is that this girl's songs are not played on the radio, and she has no big hits... What cannot be said about her potential and inner charm! We suggest getting to know this "Russian Woman" a little bit better...
Manizha Dalerovna Sangin is the real name of the hotly debated viewer winner of the last few days. Manizha is an independent musician, songwriter and performer. She directs music videos, is also the Ambassador of the "Gift of Life" Foundation and a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Refugees. She made her first steps at the age of 12, since her childhood she has actively participated in various music-song contests and festivals... The singer has got prestigious awards in her collection...
But the real success came to the girl thanks to the social network Instagram: Manizha gathered a huge audience by publishing on her page her author's music video collages... The idea to share short videos with people came to Manizha in 2013, and a year later she already launched a series of musical Mondays in Instagram: every week she published her creative collages in which she performed covers of works by world famous musicians... Among her favorite artists we can distinguish: Michael Jackson, Prince, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, David Bowie and many, many others... According to Manija herself, her idols (among women) have always been Nina Simone, Bjork...
Today Manizha has almost 400 thousand followers on her Instagram (after the contest, this number will probably grow considerably!)
There was a mixed reaction from the public...
When the name of the contestant who will represent our country at "Eurovision-2021" became known, Manija received the most mixed reviews and criticism... Some found her candidacy was far from successful: she had no charisma, boring image and so on... Many were just very upset that Russia would be represented by Manija instead of Little Big (about this later). However, most of the listeners, and not only, are completely happy with the choice! So, for example, producer Iosif Prigozhin commented on this situation as follows:
"I hadn't heard any of Manijah's songs before: she didn't seem to have any hits on the radio. But when I saw her performance of 'Russian Woman'... Her number made a big impression on me! She's a very worthy candidate..."
The director was also asked how he felt about Manijah's chances of winning:
"That's already the jury's prerogative. But if I were judging myself, Russia would always be in first place..."
What about Little Big?
As you know, the Eurovision Song Contest was supposed to take place last year. And Little Big, a Russian punk-pop-rave band formed in 2013 in St. Petersburg, was supposed to represent our country. However, a sharp outbreak of coronavirus infection disrupted the plans... Then the contest was cancelled, but this year the members of Little Big announced that they did not want to take part in it... Of course, this news was a shock to their fans.
The musicians admitted that at the moment they are just not ready to compete with themselves. And they can and should be understood: it is very difficult to create a hit that would surpass their acclaimed track Uno: today the music video was viewed by almost 190 million people... Isn't that a record?
Conclusion…
Reportedly, "Eurovision-2021" will be held in May in Rotterdam. The format of the show directly depends on the situation in the world...
"Our goal is to perform with dignity and conquer Europe! And we will do everything to achieve it... We just have to make a good and bright impression on Europe. And I'm sure that Manizha will do this as no one else!" - commented Yury Aksyuta, chief producer of music and entertainment programs of Channel One.
