On May 6, 1965, the Rolling Stones performed in Clearwater, USA. During the concert, there was a conflict between the fans and the police. A scuffle began, which turned into a fight. The concert had to end.

That evening, Keith Richards was sitting in his room in Jack Tar Harrison Hotel. He held a guitar in his hands and played something. He was pretty exhausted and already slowly passed out. And so it happened, during a dream he was visited by a muse. When he woke up, he turned on the tape recorder and recorded an invented riff, singing "I can not get any satisfaction" and then fell asleep without turning off the tape recorder. In the morning, the tape showed a 2-minute "Satisfaction" and Keith's forty-minute snoring.

The rest of the words were invented by Mick, the controversial meaning is interpreted differently to this day. "I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" was recorded in Chicago. But later, it was remade in another recording studio in Hollywood, changing the drums and adding the famous fuzz effect.

Mick recalls: “In the beginning, the song sounded like folk rock. This greatly infuriated Keith: he did not think that she would become a hit. Keith thought it was too easy and the riff was stupid.”

In addition, Richards was afraid that the beginning of the song was reminiscent of "Dancing in the Street" by the vocal group Martha & The Vandellas. However, his worries were in vain.

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" sealed the fate of The Rolling Stone, took us to the next level. We've become a cool rock band... The song has a catchy title, plus it's got a great catchy riff. In the song, the guitar sounds especially cool, then it was original. The song reflects the spirit of the time, and this is the most important thing ... "

- Mick Jagger

The older generation did not like this song much then. Provocative words and unambiguous allusions to sexual relations haunted them.

Newsweek magazine described the song's guitar riff as follows: "Five Notes That Shook the World"
