The Soviet Union's most romantic song and love story of Marina Tsvetaeva

"I love that you're not sick of me" - everyone has heard this 70's movie classic at least once. We tell you how this magnificent composition was born, and why there was so much controversy about it...

How was the song "I like that you are not ill with me" born, who was its real author, and why the composer quarreled with Alla Pugacheva over it

How many wonderful songs he gave to people Soviet cinema! It is absolutely clear that the compositions from everyone's favorite feature films were not invented by directors or cameramen, but it was thanks to the events that unfolded on the screen and touched the hearts and souls of Soviet people that these songs "came into the world.

Mikael Tariverdiev

Such was the case, for example, with the famous song "I like the fact that you're not sick of me.". After all, a person who is not even intimately familiar with the works of Tsvetaeva can easily quote the lines born in the creative impulses of this magnificent poetess of the Silver Age. And all thanks to the fact that almost everyone probably watched the legendary Soviet melodrama "Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath". Every New Year's Eve the whole country listens with bated breath to the same lines sung by the main character, for which Mikael Tariverdiev created the music...

Marina Tsvetaeva: a touching love story

Why was this song the cause of the composer's strife with Alla Pugacheva herself? To answer this question, to begin with a little history... To whom did Tsvetaeva dedicate her poem at the time of its writing? After all, it is clear that his further involvement in the film, which will be rotated on television every December 31, the poetess could not assume. Considering that television didn't even exist then: Marina Tsvetaeva died in 1941

Back at the beginning of the 20th century, countless admirers of the poetess as well as literary critics could not solve the mystery: to whom was the poem "I like that you are not ill with me" addressed? Perhaps to her husband To Sergei Efronwith whom she had been married from 1912 until her death? Many people know the romantic story of their meeting: 18-year-old Marina wished that she would marry whoever gave her her favorite stone! Sergey Efron, 17, did it by bringing her a pink bead from the beach. It was the beginning of a great, sometimes very painful and nervous, sometimes blissful and happy love.

Not hearing about the secret similarity of souls,
Nor all such fables,
To tell everyone that I have a husband,
That he is beautiful!

Despite her passionate love for her husband, which Marina especially cherished in the early years of her marriage, the poem in question is not dedicated to him...

To whom is the song really dedicated?

The truth was told a little later by her own sister Anastasia. It was like this. Tsvetaeva left her husband in 1915 for her friend Sofia Parnok. Their relationship is still shrouded in mystery and unanswered questions, but the fact remains that the 22-year-old poet was without a spouse in the "free floating". That's when she met Mauritius Mints, who was Anastasia's second husband. Sister poetess absolutely sure: to look for a second meaning or subtext in the work of "I like that you are not sick of me" is not necessary, because it simply does not exist. Nastya was practically in stalemate - having separated from her first husband and finding herself with a two-year-old son in her arms, she had to watch the silent romance of Mauritius and Marina...

However, no one still knows whether it was an affair or not. The sisters believed that Mintz was simply admiring Marina, and that he himself remained faithful to Anastasia. The Tsvetayev sisters also did not know the truth, because Mauritius died two years later of inflammation of appendicitis... Anyway, the poem was dedicated to him:

Thank you with both heart and hand
For the fact that you are me - without knowing yourself!
So love...

Composer Mikael Tariverdiev immediately took note of this poem for the future film and wrote the music. The only thing left was to find a performer for the romance. However, the task was not an easy one. After several fruitless auditions it was decided to invite Alla Pugacheva.

The work took a long time, the takes were re-recorded dozens of times, but the result met all expectations - the performance is top-notch!

What caused the quarrel with Tariverdiev

Except that Alla Borisovna's live performance of the song has already much worse. On television, a few months after the premiere of "Irony of Fate or Easy Bird," she had to perform the romantic hit live - and then the result. has already made Tariverdiev extremely unhappy.

He tried to explain to the future Prima Donna how to perform the song correctly, but in the end it led to the fact that Mikael and Alla broke up. They stopped working together and saw each other only once after that incident:

Only a few years later I met her at some festival in Sochi, and she came up to me and said: "Mikael Leonovich, I like the fact that you're not sick with me". She spectacularly turned around and walked away. I don't think I ever saw Alla again after that...
