Iron Man movie: plot and soundtrack
Содержание
In 2008, a movie about "Iron Man."which was a bright start to the Marvel Superhero Universe! Tony Stark - a billionaire inventor turned superhero with no superpowers except for his brilliant mind - instantly became an instant idol for millions of children and teenagers! Many still revisit this movie, emphasizing that the "titan hero" is their favorite Marvel character.
There is a long and complicated, rather convoluted story behind this movie. The success of Iron Man is about much more than just Hollywood special effects. It's a truly compelling story, an impeccably cast (it's impossible to imagine anyone else in the role of Tony Stark but . Robert Downey Jr), as well as a memorable soundtrack, the work on which turned out to be painstaking, but in the end - electric guitars were "in the crosshairs" of dissatisfied critics. What did the music from the movie so did not please the "all-seeing eyes" of cinematography? Let's find out. But first - a little bit about the plot...
"A little bit psycho, a little bit multimillionaire, a little bit hero..."
The plot tells us the story Tony Stark - a not-so-young but obscenely wealthy and charismatic inventor who inherits his late father Howard Stark's weapons business. Tony leads a fairly carefree life, but only up to a certain point, until he is captured in Afghanistan. Thus unfortunate for Stark ends his demonstration of yet another missile. Now the terrorists want Stark to make a lot of weapons for them, for which they guarantee Tony's freedom, but their words are hard to believe....
In some ways Tony is lucky to have a comrade who is also a prisoner of war, experienced doctor. Together they construct a titanium suit, with the help of which Stark manages to break free (literally). However, this suit becomes for our hero not just a way to save his life: he feels that he is capable of more. So, soon Stark's life changes dramatically (also affecting his personality and worldview), and he becomes a badass superhero without having any superpowers. Well, aside from his brilliant mind and his, uh. out-of-the-box thinking…
It's worth noting that the movie was in development for many yearsbecause everyone thought the plot was incredibly absurd! Well, on paper it looked like this: some psycho makes himself a titanium and probably heavy suit, in which he flies and fights... It's too much even for the fantasy genre. But in the end, the movie became a hit and took a special place in the collection of most Marvel fans (and not only). By the way: have you seen "Iron Man"? Or maybe you have your own "marvel's favorite."? Share your experiences in the comments, and we move on to the most interesting part - the superhero soundtrack that critics literally trashed!
The music lovers completely disagree with the critics
Soundtrack to "Iron Man" is a separate topic of conversation. At least because the opinions of viewers and movie critics differed. Moreover: many people not only disagreed with the criticism, but also were not satisfied with it, because the electric guitars, adored by many... fell under it! But let's tell you in order...
The composer responsible for Tony Stark's Playlist was an Iranian-German musical genius Ramin Javadi. And it was a bull's-eye! The fact is that Ramin has been a big fan of Iron Man since childhood, so he started his work very responsibly and with great enthusiasm. However, this was an atypical project for Javadi: while he usually wrote the music without seeing the movie, in the case of this superhero hit, the composer started working after the movie was shot and Ramin was shown the trailer....
It's worth noting that before Ramin, the soundtrack was produced by Jon Favreauwho eventually became a co-writer. Favreau had his own take on Iron Man: in his opinion, Stark was the most a real rock star by nature, and so it was decided that electric guitars would make up the predominant part of the soundtrack. Ramin and Favreau went in that direction, as did guitarist Tom Morello and even Hans Zimmer, who helped with the orchestral arrangements.
Well: many viewers and especially music lovers appreciated the soundtrack, but to critics he "didn't go in.". In particular, they criticized electric guitars, arguing that such a format is completely unsuitable for a superhero! Nevertheless, everyone had their own opinion, and many believe that the growling rock'n'roll tracks perfectly complement the story of Tony Stark.
Remarkably, the movie brought back the popularity of the forgotten 1983 track "Institutionalized.", the band's debut single Suicidal Tendances. And here it stands out from the rest of the compositions: it sounds too bold... Perhaps that's what the critics didn't like? And what do you think about it - did the rock "fit" in this case, or was it superfluous?
