We continue to remember the most popular rock bands of the 70's that still exist today!

Popular Rock Bands from the '70s Still Playing - Part Two

In this article we continue to remember veterans of the rock scene. These legendary oldies played back in the 70's and are still playing their music today. Of course, their lineups may have changed a lot - a lot of time has passed, but in general they are still the same as before.

Meet the second part of a selection of rockers from the '70s who are still "in action"! Here we go.

The Who

These old guys even outdid the rest a little bit, because they weren't just stars of the 70's, they were popular even earlier, in the 60's! The original lineup consisted of Pete Townsend, Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle. And the only two left are. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsendwho continue to play.

Relatively recently they released a new album called Who. Such a miracle happened in 2019, and many recognized that Daltrey and Townsend, who are already over 80 (!) are still doing quite well creatively. Admittedly, this album is probably their last. Because the band was planning to do their final tour with it... The coronavirus situation prevented them from doing it earlier.

Nazareth (2022)

A Scottish band that, along with the others, was hugely popular in the past. The original line-up of the band was: vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darel Sweet. Of them all, only bassist Pete Agnew remained in the band.

Manny Charlton sadly passed away in the summer of 2022. Darela Sweet was gone back in 1999. But with the vocalist, By Dan McCaffertyFortunately, nothing critical happened - he just left the band in 2013 for health reasons. Old age took its toll - it's hard to give concerts anymore. In spite of this he can still sing, and he explained his departure as follows:

"Going to the studio and singing is not the same as giving concerts. I can always record another album, but going on stage every time, spending an hour and 45 minutes there and charging people for coming to see me - I can't do that.

ZZ Top

The three-bearded band is known to many people. You may ask: why three beards if there were only two bearded musicians in the band? The answer is that the drummer, the one without the beard, actually has a beard too. His last name is Beard, which translates to beard.

But sadly, there is one less beard in the group. Last year he passed away. Dusty Hill - ZZ Top's bassist. His last request to his musical comrades was to keep the band going. He knew that music was their life's work and wanted them to carry on no matter what...

The musicians did. And shortly before Hill's death, the musicians began preparing an album. They had time to record his voice and guitar, so it's not impossible that fans will be able to hear him on the next album, which will most likely be about Dusty.

In terms of lineup, this is a unique band - everything has been stable here for many years. All the members since the beginning of the 70's have remained in the band. But the leader of the band, Steven Tyler in 2016 claimed to have disbanded the band and a farewell tour in 2017. But something didn't really dissolve the band, because a few years later the musicians got together again to record albums.

And they even started performing again. They even planned a trip to Russia in 2020, but the coronavirus situation prevented them, as did many other musicians. Still, at an age like these guys', it's not worth the risk. And they were right not to. But in 2022 they will rock out at their concerts to the max!
