Album "Black Velvet" (2018) - Charles Bradley
If Charles Bradley - the Screaming Eagle of the Soul - were still alive, he would have turned 70 on November 5th! Sadly, the great soul singer, a native of Gainesville, Florida, died of cancer last year...
In celebration of the singer's anniversary, the album "Black Velvet" collected 10 songs recorded during the sessions of each of the three previous albums. And you will hear them for the first time!
"Black Velvet" is the name Bradley used during his days as a parody of James Brown. What he learned from the Soul Godfather was touching, soulful, and full of funk. Bradley had dance moves, screams, squeals, songs and screams, but he turned them into his own style with a wonderful, unusual and recognizable voice.
Black Velvet continues the journey of soul love that Charles Bradley began his debut in 2011. Songs such as "Can't Fight the Feeling" - originally recorded in 2007, "Fly Little Girl" - featuring Bradley on the organ, and the heartbreaking hit " I Feel the Change ”(“ I Feel the Change ”), speaks of the essence of his character.
Another single from the album, "(I Hope You Find) The Good Life", describes the pain and disappointment he once experienced from his soul mate, whom he had to let go ...
"When you're next to me it's so hard for me to resist / So leave girl before I start begging you to stay"
This is the other side of the soul singer, do not pass by it!
Charles Bradley had boundless love and talent. Black velvet is a testament to his splendor and beauty of spirit, the last love letter to his fans. These are the perfect ten songs that he sent us from the bottom of the heart of his genius!
