Joji - Like You Do (2020)
Содержание
"Like You Do" is the seventeenth track on Joji's 2020 album Nectar. The song is a moody lullaby of his relationship and his doubts about their future.
Joji released his second studio album 'Nectar' on 25 September 2020. The original release date of the album was delayed in July 2020 due to Covid-19. This is his return to music after his 2018 album "BALLADS 1".
In the song, Joji appreciates having this girl in his life, but he is afraid that things will fall apart. As his track " Ew " suggests, Joji always expects the worst in a relationship, probably because of his past experiences.

Meaning and review of the song "Like You Do"
First verse
In the very first verse, Joji says that he expects this relationship to go south - that is, to end. He absolutely does not want to ruin the good relationship they are developing. But he also feels that they are aiming at a moving target - almost aimlessly. They can only expect the ending to be painless, which is always far from reality.
Before the chorus.
It's a known fact that our emotions affect the way we perceive the world around us. So, a song that brought you happy memories when you were in love may bring up the exact opposite feeling when you fall out of love. So, Joji knows that he will hear this lullaby in a completely different tone when the inevitable happens.
Chorus
In the chorus of the song, Joji confesses to all the butterflies and the good feelings he has when he is with his lover. He knows that "you're the one I can't lose," but if his past is any indication, he will lose.
Second verse
In the second verse of "Like You Do", Joji shows how his life has changed for the better with this girl in his life. Therefore, he would hate to lose this feeling in his life. So he will do everything in his power to protect the girl and those feelings forever. But he had not yet conquered that flash of doubt in the back of his mind about the longevity of this relationship. It would be awful to be tormented by those thoughts.
