Little-known Tsoi songs that can claim to be hits

"Cinema." - one of the most unusual bands in the history of Russian rock. On the one hand, they are admired by millions! On the other hand, just as many people have a biased, if not quite negative, attitude towards the band's work. While Tsoi's name is firmly entrenched in the annals of Russian rock, some people believe that he did nothing outstanding. However, there are as many people as there are opinions. In any case, Kino, with their simple motifs and slightly depressing sound, are considered to be almost pioneers post-punk in the USSR! And that's saying a lot.
Despite the harsh criticism, the work Tsoi and his bands are still thriving today, despite the fact that the musician himself has been gone for more than 30 years. "Tsoi is alive!" - it's hard to argue with that, especially considering the current popularity of the rocker and his songs. Hits such as. "A packet of cigarettes." or "Summer."Tsoi's fans have confidently gone to the people and found a loyal listener even among the modern generation of teenagers, whose idols are mostly rappers! What is there - how many children are Tsoy's fans? In any case, from time to time they come with his songs on "The Voice" and similar shows....
However, in the repertoire Victor Tsoi There are songs that only the most devoted fans have heard. They are far from popular love and universal recognition, although it is quite unfair in some cases. At least a couple of tracks, which will be discussed below, can safely claim the title of hits! These are obscure songs legends of Russian rock that are worth listening to if only out of curiosity.
"Next to me."
Beautiful guitar track, which can be attributed to the post-punk genre. Unobtrusive melody, slightly depressive sound, almost emotionless performance... Nevertheless, despite the modest characteristics, the song sounds cool. There is something in it nostalgic, pleasant...
"You look so unmodern
Next to me..."
The song, also known as "You look so unmodern."was born around the middle of the 80s. Fans of Kino became acquainted with her thanks to the album "It's not love.". On this record Tsoi emphasised on fashion, on youth... But it turned out that the songs were to the liking of the adult generation as well.
"Spring."
"Spring." - another track from the album "It's not love.". Light, rhythmic, ironic - it is the complete opposite of "Next to Me". Rather, it is a humorous, rather positive hymn to spring!
"Spring...
Look how beautiful it is!
Spring...
Where's my head?"
Remarkably, though. Mike Naumenko - a rather close friend of Tsoi's, did his own parody of the song. And it was called "Summer.".
"You've got me wrapped around your finger."
Very interesting track! At least because there's something about it. ominous, heavy…
If you listen carefully, you can feel familiar notes in Tsoi's voice. In some moments the leader of "Kino" reminds... Yuri Khoya from "Sektor Gaza"! So - to some extent this is a pioneering track for Tsoi, because here he experiments with his vocals - habitually measured and calm, even unemotional.
"The Last Hero."
Despite the fact that this song was released on several Kino albums and was often performed live by the band, it somehow passed by the general public. Anyway, there are plenty of other songs by the band that are played everywhere and anywhere. Unlike this rather famous track....
"The Last Hero." sounds like a militant anthem that inspires and energises. Remarkably, all studio versions of the track have different arrangements. Tsoi himself was particularly fond of the version from the album "Night."as, according to him, the previous attempts were not successful - still could not convey the necessary depth, energy....
"About seven o'clock in the morning."
The song, also known as "I'm one of those.".
"I know for a fact:
Tomorrow will be the same as yesterday..."
Unlike the rest of the songs on the list, "About seven o'clock in the morning." is really popular among listeners. But it is clearly inferior in popularity to the same "Cuckoo", and is rather loved by the most devoted fans.
"In Search of a Plot."
"In Search of a Plot" or "Plot for a New Song" is a composition written by Tsoi in the first half of the 80s.
"I can't sing about love..."
One of the most lyrical and melancholic songs of Kino. It once again confirms the fact that Tsoi's band was a pioneer post-punk in Russia!
"Ant Farm."
"I don't like being lied to." - that's how Viktor Tsoi labelled this song, which was worthy of adornment. "The Black Album".
One of the Russian rock legend's latest songs, which some believe alludes to the near-death a musician.
"I've been trying to find shelter,
They say I wasn't looking hard enough..."
