The composition was born in the late 1930s: it was written specifically for the film "Fighters" by Eduard Petzlin, where it was performed by the golden voice of the Soviet Union Mark Bernes. The composition was based on the poems of Evgeny Dolmatovsky. The composer was Nikita Bogoslovsky. After the release of the film, the song became wildly popular! Subsequently, it was performed by Lev Leshchenko, Muslim Magomayev, Iosif Kobzon, Larisa Dolina and others.
Earlier, in April 2021, Lindemann published a music video where he performs "Beloved City" in Russian specifically for Timur Bekmambetov's new film "Devyatayev" (in which Pavel Priluchny will play the main role).
As the director himself said, Lindemann independently recorded the composition and sent it to him. So - for Bekmambetov himself, this also came as a surprise!
