Mick Jagger: 20 facts about the Rolling Stones frontman

The most interesting details of the life of the cult "rolling" - Mick Jagger!

Interesting facts about Mick Jagger!

Mick Jagger is the legendary singer of the Rolling Stones, whose fortune is estimated at more than 360 million dollars! This proves once again that he is not just a brilliant musician, he is an experienced businessman who never stops working in spite of his respectable age... Mick's cult life has always been interesting! In fact, the most interesting facts from the musician's biography we will remember today!

1 He And The Rolling Stones Left England To Avoid Taxes

Back in the 60s and 70s, high-ranking people in the United Kingdom had to pay exorbitant amounts of taxes, in particular - 93 percent! So, if you made $100 million, you would only take 7 of them for yourself... That's why the Rolling Stones went to France, saying, "Give us some kind of tax haven!" By the way: it was in this country that the legendary album “Exile on Main St.” was released…

2. He rents out an island house for a lot of money.

The musician owns a multimillion-dollar beachfront property on Mustique Island in the West Indies. This six-bedroom, five-bathroom residence, known as Star Groves, rents out weekly for as much as most people (Americans) don't make in a year... Currently, the price ranges from a low weekly fee of $16,500 to $45,000 around Christmas time! Not a bad income besides music, is it?

3 Divorce cost him millions

Mick had eight children, but he was married only twice. One of his wives was Bianca de Macias, then a socialite. Their marriage lasted until 1978, when Jagger divorced her for supermodel Jerry Hall. She also became his second wife--but she divorced him for infidelity. Forbes estimates that the settlement of the lawsuit cost the musician about 20 million dollars! Hall originally tried to sue for half the fortune, but because the marriage took place in Bali and the legal circumstances of the wedding were questionable, Jagger claimed that they were never actually married. This worked, and the marriage was dissolved.

4. Someone paid $6,000 for a lock of Mick's hair.

Yes, yes! And it happens... The salesgirl, Chrissy Shrimpton, had been his girlfriend when he was still a student, not a cool rock 'n' roller. Back then, in the early '60s, she kept some of her hair after Mick washed and cut it. Then she kept that bundle for over 50 years until she sold it at a charity auction for $6,000 in 2013! Well who doesn't keep a strand of hair for half a century...?

5 The Hells Angels Tried To Kill The Musician

In 1969, someone hired the Hells Angels (price: $500 worth of beer) as bodyguards at a free Altamont Speedway concert headlined by the Stones. But the event went horribly... As the bands played into the night, the audience became more and more deranged (thanks to alcohol and more...), including the Hells Angels themselves. But it got to the point of complete disgrace when the Stones performed. 18-year-old Meredith Hunter reportedly tried to throw himself onto the stage, but was beaten off by the Hells Angels. Then the guy pulled out a gun from his jacket... A fight ensued, during which one of the guards stabbed Hunter, killing him... All this was captured on film...

Jagger later denounced the Hells Angels and refused to work with them again. This infuriated the biker gang so much that they decided to kill the lead singer... According to a former FBI agent, "a boatload of Hells Angels set out to get revenge on the singer at his country home in the Hamptons, Long Island, New York..." Planning to avoid security at the musician's house in the Hamptons, the bikers attempted to enter through the garden adjacent to the sea. Either by the grace of God, pure luck, or because the bikers didn't know how to read the weather forecast, a storm hit and tossed them all overboard... Though they all survived, it apparently ended their terrible desire for Mick.

6. Jagger paid Sid Vicious' legal fees.

According to John Lydon of the Sex Pistols (aka Johnny Rotten), Jagger helped the band's bassist get out of the most infamous incident in punk rock history - when John Ritchie (Sid Vicious) was accused of killing his girlfriend Nancy... During an interview, he said :

"The only good news is that I heard Mick went in there and got lawyers involved on Sid's behalf, because I don't think Malcolm (former band manager) would have lifted a finger. He just didn't know what to do. That's why I really like Mick!"

7. He had a baby at 73

In 2016, at the age of 73, Jagger became a father again! True, the baby's parents did not stay together ... Rumor has it that the rocker agreed to pay alimony to Melanie Hamrick, a young American ballerina, in the amount of £ 14,000 ($ 19800) every month!

8. He and Keith Richards have known each other since high school.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were in the same class at Wentworth Elementary School in Dartford. When the musician passed the 11+ exam and went to Dartford Grammar School, he and Keith parted ways... Fortunately, after a chance meeting at Dartford Station in the summer of 1960, they renewed their friendship and also discovered a shared passion for rhythm and blues.

9 The Mayor Of Boston Was Forced To Release Him From Jail

Because of a heated argument with journalists, Meek and Richards ended up behind bars in 1972. Much to their delight, however, they were scheduled to perform in Boston. This prompted the city's mayor, Kevin Hagan White, to release the bullies from jail for fear of a riot if the concert did not take place as planned... Smart decision!

10. Jagger is mentioned in the tracks of contemporary artists

Yes Yes! Rock Shark is mentioned in Kesha's track "Tik Tok", the Black Eyed Peas hit "The Time (Dirty Bit)", and his vocal part is mentioned by Kanye West in the TI and Jay-Z single "Swagga Like"!

11. The musician became the star of the magazine Rolling Stones

In total, Mick has appeared on the cover of Rolling Stones music magazine more than 20 times since 1968.

12. He made a life-threatening horse ride

Don't try to ride a horse if you've never done it before! The musician learned this from bitter personal experience when he apparently tried to ride one of the young stallions. The incident is recounted by publisher John Blake, who claims to own a 75,000-page memoir written by the star: "Having never ridden a horse before, Mick jumped on a stallion, whereupon it got up and sprinted forward like a Ferrari!", Fortunately, the frontman managed to stop the beast by hitting it between the eyes with his fist... Poor horse! Although in such a situation there is no time to choose and think, one has only to act.

13. He called his band's album "garbage"

While much of The Rolling Stones' work has received critical acclaim, their 1967 record Their Satanic Majesties Request tends to divide fans and critics. The musician also agreed with the latter, calling the psychedelic record "garbage"...

14. He has a close relationship with Keith Richards

Richards and Jagger have been around each other for so long that they might as well call themselves brothers! And, like siblings, they may have quarreled over the years. But they still seem to love each other... In his autobiography, Life, Richards calls Mick "insufferable," but he also writes rather movingly, "Sometimes I think, 'I miss my friend. I wonder, 'Where did he go?'"

15. Jagger bought the legendary acid house

In 1970 the musician bought an old English manor house in Hampshire that is several hundred years old. It is also known as Star Groves. The mansion cost the musician more than a million dollars! He set up a recording studio there, and The Stones, as well as bands like Led Zeppelin and The Who, recorded there. He sold the estate in 1979 for £200,000. Not uncommon for a successful musician, is it? Yes, considering that he bought the mansion not in a sober state...

16. MJ and MJ

In 1984 Mick recorded "State of Shock" with the king of pop, Michael Jackson. Jackson had originally recorded the song with Freddie Mercury, but due to scheduling problems it was re-recorded.

17. Mick was a model student

Before becoming a reckless rock star, he was aiming for a slightly more respectable career... He graduated from the prestigious London School of Economics and planned to go into politics, but dropped out to concentrate on his band.

The musician's life could have turned out quite differently if not for a terrible childhood "accident". While playing basketball, Mick accidentally bit his tongue, bit off a piece of the tip and swallowed it. The accident affected his speech, and in the most interesting and we can say the best way. Today many people believe that the musician owes his career to this event...

19. He made a very bad film.

Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall

Long before his divorce from Hall, Jagger made a movie. By all accounts, it's a terrible, the worst movie there could be... He co-wrote the script and starred in Failure, which for some reason also starred Hall and Dennis Hopper. Maybe they weren't all sober? Because that alone could explain why anyone thought this movie might have been a good idea... To imagine how funny it is, at one point in the movie Jagger wanders through the desert and finds a half-eaten Big Mac, and then it "rains" (someone behind the scenes uses a watering can)!

20. White suit and Mick Jagger

In one of his interviews, Vladimir Zhechkov, a Russian producer, said:

"I remember they call me up and say, 'We got Mick Jagger here! Where are you? Just waiting for you!" It was just before the first crisis... So I got dressed quickly and went to Fellini, a posh club in Olimpiyskiy... I went up to Mick and said: "Oh, hi Mick! Did you hear you sing?" He laughed! Then they explained to him who I was. So I decided to give him a present that day - a NKVD general's tunic. But they translated it so that it turned out to be the tunic of Leonid Brezhnev himself! Of course, Mick was shocked... He put on this tunic and I said to him, "Can we take a picture?" He was not allowed to be photographed (a condition of the contract), but after such a gift, could he refuse?
