1. The title was inspired by a poster that hung in the Gallagher brothers' bedroom
At first, the band called themselves The Rain. Everything changed with the departure of Chris Hutton. Liam Gallagher, who took his place, suggested changing the name to Oasis!
As Liam later told in an interview, the idea was inspired by a poster that hung in his and Noel's room. The poster showed a leisure centre with the succinct name "Oasis" (in Swindon).
2. Noel only joined the band after he was confirmed as sole songwriter
Noel was previously a roadie for Inspiral Carpets. When he saw Oasis perform, he offered them a couple of songs of his own.
Liam's brother later said he agreed to be part of Oasis, but on the condition that he would be the sole writer of all the songs... According to Noel, he wanted the other members to be totally focused on achieving commercial success!
3. Noel first left the band when it was at the height of its popularity
It was 1994. When Oasis were at the height of their popularity, the relationship between the Gallagher brothers soured, and eventually... Noel left the band.
