'American-style psychedelia': US military conducts electric guitar masterclass

"Little Wing," "That Lady," "Maggot Brain," ...

"Strings of Colour" - a new project from the US military

"America's First Corps Band" is the name of an American music group made up of US military personnel. At the end of February 2021, they launched a new format on YouTube featuring influential musicians.

The host of this unusual psychedelic show is Sergeant Jonathan Johnson, assisted by Sergeant Edra. The project is cheekily called "Strings of Colour" (in the original "Strings of Color").

The purpose of the first issue: to honour outstanding African American guitarists who changed the world of music. They called it "Black History Month of Great Guitarists in Music History".

In this episode they will talk about the influences of guitarists such as: Jimi Hendrix, Ernie Ailey, and Eddie Hazel. Sgt. Jonathan Johnson and Sgt. Edra will remember everything in 8 minutes! Including the following songs:

  • "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix.
  • "That Lady" by Ernie Isley.
  • "Maggot Brain" - Eddie Hazel.

The video was directed by Corporal Kyle Moonan and Sergeant Jonathan Johnson.

The space-psychedelic disco style background contributes to this atmosphere! Enjoying...
