Gudkov - Self-isolation: what kind of song plays in the original?
On March 27, Alexander Gudkov published on his channel a parody of self-isolation at home under the simple title "Self-isolation". Many people wonder: what is the song playing in the original? Who is its performer?
Answer: La Bouche
Artist: La BoucheAlbum: Absolute Dance Hits (disc 1)Release Date: 1992Genre: Dance/Electronic Music
And here are some facts about this 90s hit…
- La Bouche (“Bouche” in French means “Mouth”) is the creation of German producer Frank Farian, the same guy who brought us Boney M and Milli Vanilli. For La Bouche, he teamed up with American singers Melanie Thornton and Lane McCray. "Be My Lover", with a very resonant Eurodance, was their hit in the US as well as a worldwide hit, charting all over Europe, the UK and Australia, and reaching #1 in Germany and Sweden. Their previous European release was "Sweet Dreams" which also performed well worldwide and was released as the second single in America after the release of "Be My Lover". The album was released five times platinum and nine times gold in different countries.
- The soundtrack of this song includes movies Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997) and "A Night at the Roxbury" (A Night at the Roxbury) (1998).
- La Bouche lead singer Melanie Thornton died in 2001 in a plane crash in Switzerland, which led to the group's breakup. One of her last steps in her career was the recording of the song "Wonderful Dream", a Christmas ballad recorded for a German television commercial for Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola decided to run the ad anyway, and the single also became a posthumous hit.
