Best Whitesnake songs
Содержание
Whitesnake is one of the most talented and, not surprisingly, popular rock bands in the history of music! Everyone knows their tracks, because such compositions as "Is This Love" or "Forevermore" have become golden classics of their genre. And David Coverdale's magical voice... it enchants, captivates, and forever sticks in the listener's memory. Today's selection is dedicated to five of the band's cool and instantly recognisable hits! Let's go!
The top five songs by the band Whitesnake!
"Is This Love" (1987)
This composition is considered to be the band's most famous slow song. Coverdale wrote it together with guitarist John Sykes in the south of France. The song was originally intended for Tina Turner. In his 2017 interview, Coverdale admitted:
"...I still dream of hearing 'Is This Love' performed by the enchanting Tina Turner..."
The music video for "Is This Love" is hazy and quite sultry thanks to Toni Keatain's participation in it. Yes... David's future spouse is really beautiful. No wonder he was running after her the whole clip asking "Isn't this love?".
By the way: the Whitesnake guys became pioneers of sorts! It was they who opened the fashion for clips with seductive shots of beautiful girls, which significantly increased the interest of the viewer (in particular, male representatives).
"Wings of the Storm" (1989).
And this dynamic song was a worthy addition to the band's eighth studio album entitled "Slip of the Tongue". Curiously, because of the lyrics, many listeners found it similar to "Judgement Day" from the same record! "Wings of the Storm" tells a familiar lyric: a couple in love believe that their strong feelings can warm them even in the most difficult hour...
Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai deserves special attention! He, so to speak, added the missing "spice" to the "dish".
"Sailing Ships" (1989)
The measured and soulful "Sailing Ships" also saw the light of day on Slip of the Tongue.
When listening to the composition, a very touching picture emerges of a man sending his beloved on her last journey... Grief-stricken, he asks her to take him with her... He knows that her soul will have a difficult journey, but sincerely believes that she will safely reach the best of worlds!
"Looking for Love" (1987)
This song has an interesting history! At first it was released only in Europe, and in the USA it was included in the best hits compilation of the band only after... 7 years! Perhaps that's the reason why the song is not as popular as the ones discussed above... But it definitely deserves attention! As for the meaning of the lyrics, it is a kind of love hymn! "Looking for Love" tells the story of a romantic in search of true love....
"Forevermore" (2011)
David Coverdale's collection is full of songs about love and passion, about experience and hope... As if drawing his own image, the Whitesnake leader asked himself in his songs the eternal question: "Where to find the one, true love?". And so it came to pass! At last, Coverdale composed a lyric about pure and light love, demanding nothing in return, in which he is ready to dissolve...
