What is the show about?
The creators of the story built on the story of the famous Addams Family by making an adaptive sequel in the form of creating a new character - their unconventional daughter named Wansday. She is played by Jenna Ortega - Not the most experienced actress born in 2002, which, nevertheless, was able to conquer the minds and hearts of viewers with its very high level of play in this series.
The Addams Family are American comic book characters fictionalised by artist Charles Addams as early as in 1938! The stories about an idealised American family are full of satire and black humour, and the Addamses themselves possess supernatural powers, which is indirectly reflected in the series. The family's daughter, Wansday, is fixated on inflicting pain and suffering on the people around her, primarily her younger brother Pugsley.
Tim Burton's series premiered in November 2022. The series itself has so far been limited to just one season, consisting of 8 episodes; it was announced in January 2023 that a sequel would be filmed. In its first week, "Wednesday" scored record number of views on Netflix - over 340 million hours watched, and that's just in one week! Before December was over, "Wednesday" had racked up a billion hits already. on a streaming service.

To the positive sides of the series should be attributed first of all remarkable acting. Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie. - Tim Burton did not collect any "star" cast in pursuit of viewings, but made a bet on the fact that each of the actors maximised their efforts and presented all of themselves to their character. By the way, the aforementioned Jenna Ortega is nominated for best actress of the year.
Film critics believe that the most successful adaptations of the Addams Family comic book characters remain the films and TV series of the 90s. However, 2022's Wansday managed to deliver a fan favourite gothic atmosphere (largely due to the colourful locations and carefully chosen outfits), black humour and plot twists. Surprisingly, the emphasis is not so much on the satirical as on the detective component. Immediately it should be noted that for fans of mysteries and complex detective stories, the plot of "Wenzday" will be albeit not trivial, but simple and predictable enough. Whether a more complex and twisted story could have been created within the confines of eight episodes is a question that remains to be answered on the conscience Burton.
Many people didn't like the teenage theme already played out by everyone who can, the teenage theme. The red thread of the series is the deeply individual and not understood by anyone accelerators, who try to live, love, learn and adapt to adult life in a wizarding school called "The School of Wizarding". "Nevermore Academy."where Addams Sr. went to school and met.
Is it that kind of detective?
Hand in hand with the detective investigation of the monster in the series is a psychological theme: the girl Wenzday is essentially - a psychopath with severe sociophobia.. The series tells how she managed to build interactions with the people around her and blend into adulthood harmoniously (as much as possible for an inadequate teenager with supernatural powers).
Realism in the series is practically absent - with this you have to accept from the very beginning, because the first episode just blows away the scene of how the main heroine releases piranhas into the school pool! Uncomplicated plot and poor reflection of psychological portraits of old characters from the 90's, in some places silly image of "not like all the other teenage girls" a lot of people didn't like. But "Wednesday" is worth watching this weekend for the really cool acting of the still very young (you can even say young) actors, beautiful graphics and gorgeous costumes.
