Impala mastermind Kevin Parker was a virtual musical guest on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Monday night (11 May). Parker performed "Is It True" from his latest studio album The Slow Rush. Parker, (actually three Parkers in three different outfits) played bass, guitar and sang in a colourful three-sided split-screen picture.
As a reminder, Tame Impala released "The Slow Rush" in February, and have since released a fully remixed version of the album, "The Slow Rush in Imaginary Place" , created specifically to sound like it's playing in a different room. Parker also collaborated with the Streets on the track "Call My Phone Thinking I'm Doing Nothing Better", marking the UK rap project's first new single in nine years.
Release of the official music video "Is It True" (2020)
On 6 August 2020, Tame Impala released the official music video for the song Is It True, taken from their latest album 'The Slow Rush'.
In the clip, Kevin Parker dances and sings, immersed in a psychedelic atmosphere reminiscent of the glitches and effects of old VHS video tapes - the look and feel is similar to the visuals in Tame Impala's live performances.
"Is It True" is the sixth single from The Slow Rush, following "Borderline", "It Might Be Time", "Posthumous Forgiveness", "Lost in Yesterday" and "Breathe Deeply".
'The Slow Rush', released in February this year, was the second number one album for Tame Impala in their home country of Australia, and their previous album 'Currents' recently achieved RIAA certified platinum status with over 2.5 million copies sold worldwide.
Parker recently released a remix version of The Slow Rush called "The Slow Rush in an Imaginary Place" - for the Quarantine era.
"I made something for all you isolationists," he tweeted . "Headphones are required for the full immersive effect. See you there.
