"Telegram: A timeless classic from the band Nazareth.....
Содержание
"Telegram" is one of the most famous compositions by the rock band Nazareth. It was released in 1976, as part of the album "Close Enough For Rock'n'Roll". The unique feature of this song is that it consists of four parts! The track is widely recognised thanks to its expressive musical design and the unique sound of Nazareth....
Where it all began...
In the second half of the 70s Nazareth released their seventh studio album entitled "Close Enough For Rock'n'Roll". And the main highlight of the release immediately becomes the song "Telegram": consisting of four parts, it was a cover of "So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star" by The Byrds.
Musical design
As it was already emphasised above, in many ways "Telegram" became popular precisely due to its expressive musical design. None of the songs previously released by the band could boast such a rich musical waterfall of notes and laps... Moreover, the composition was not similar to anything released by other rock maestros of that time! In the end, it was the extraordinary sound that made the song the band's calling card for many, many years....
The authors of the song, as well as the Nazareth playing staff as a whole, managed to make a really great achievement, appreciated by all followers and listeners of rock music... Has anyone else managed to recreate the sound of a steam engine with notes through the great playing and sound of the instruments used? Yes, later on it is quite possible... But back then, in 1976, it was really something amazing....
So, soon after its release, "Telegram" became a classic not only for fans of the band's work, but also for connoisseurs of innovation in the style of heavy rock!
The point...
The composition tells the story of the difficulties rock musicians face when touring...
The musical setting of the first part of "On Your Way" immerses you in the atmosphere of an English railway station and a telegraph station: there is hustle and bustle everywhere, everyone is sending a telegram, and the locomotive ready for departure is slowly breathing steam....
The second, rather pompous piece - "So You Wanna Be a Rock'n'Roll Star" - is addressed to the wires.
As for the third part, "Sound Check", it continues the trivial action. The musicians managed to depict the sound of a steam engine travelling along the famous English railway London-Midland-Scotland....
The fourth part of "Here We Are Again" completes the travelling theme!
This whole bizarre construction was a smashing success overseas. It was the best time for Nazareth in the US.
