Table of Contents
There was a lot of great music released in the 1970s! There were a lot of fun songs with a funky disco motif, but there were also more lyrical compositions "for the soul". All in all - there was really a lot to listen to. But what tracks were particularly popular? in 1976?
Today we propose to take a little musical journey through time together, and to remember some of my favourite hits from 1976which the whole Soviet Union listened to with pleasure! Let's start with foreign hits.
Eagles - "Hotel California"

One of the most popular songs of that year is rightly considered to be "Hotel California" groups Eagles. This romanticised ballad with a slightly dark and frightening lyric instantly appealed to Soviet music lovers.
In general, the Eagles were very much loved in our country. But it was "Hotel California." made these rockers idols of millions. By the way: it is still legendary that our homegrown ballad "Summer Evening." groups "Flowers" by Stas Namin was inspired by this particular foreign masterpiece.....
ABBA - "Money, Money, Money"

ABBA became the favourite band in the USSR almost immediately after they first appeared on stage. And almost every second track of theirs became a big hit - and not only in our country, but all over the world!
A rousing song "Money, Money, Money, Money." was no exception. A beautiful hit with a great melody and a dynamic performance. However - could you expect anything else from ABBA? Definitely one of the brightest hits of the 70's, which is so pleasant to listen to today - after decades.
Afrique Simon - "Hafanana"

Despite the fact that the famous "Hafanana." released in the middle of the decade, it was still actively listened to in 1976 - and with great pleasure.
It may have been the single biggest success of his career, and the biggest of his life Afrika Simone. But the song became a classic of the genre, and forever imprinted in the minds of millions... As we think - the Mozambican singer has earned his place in the history of music.
Boney M. - "Daddy Cool."

If ABBA's popularity can be compared to anyone, it's ABBA. Boney M. In the 1970s, this disco project became a world titan of popular music! It was the first foreign band of its kind to whirlwind through the Iron Curtain.
In the USSR, Boney M. were not just loved - they were adored. Almost all their songs were known by heart. Today, tracks like "Daddy Cool." are firmly associated by domestic music lovers with the best years of their lives - their youth.
Pussycat - "Mississippi"

Poignant "Mississippi." from Pussycat was also a popular hit of its time. Many people who grew up in the USSR still fondly love this track to this day.
Now, a little bit about our - of 1976's homegrown smash hits!
Alla Pugacheva - "I like it."

When the film was released in the mid-'70s. "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy the Steam!", song "I like it." by Pugacheva became an instant hit!
The composition "I Like It" was actively listened to in 1976 - and in the following years in general, up to the present day. A classic, what else can I add.
VIA Pesnyary - "Vologda"

"Where is my black-eyed where, and Vologda-here-here-here" - those lines have already become iconic!
Composition "Vologda." was heard all over the USSR - practically from every iron. At that time Pesnyary VIA were incredibly popular, and their heartfelt songs still ring in our hearts today.
Igor Ivanov - "From the Vagants"
It's a very colourful, catchy song! It is still being covered to this day.
A lot of people's compositions "From the Vagantes." brings back exceptionally warm memories of my youth and youthfulness.....
Alla Pugacheva - "Everything can be kings"
Another diva hit that needs no introduction.
"Anything can kings, anything can kings!
And the fate of the whole Earth is sometimes decided by them.
But whatever you say, marry for love.
No one, no king can!"
"How young we were."
And the list is rounded off with a classic - the anthem "How young we were.". Whoever has performed this song - and each rendition is beautiful in its own way. Here's our choice:
