About Living In A Ghost Town (2020) – The Rolling Stones
On April 23, 2020, the iconic The Rolling Stones released their new single called "Living In A Ghost Town"! Written more than a year ago, today the composition about a ghost town has become a landmark… The track has already received positive reviews from critics, and millions of YouTube users have watched a captivating video!
"Life in a Ghost Town" - that's how the name of the sensational track is translated - became the band's first single in four years, as well as their first original release since "Doom and Gloom" and "One More Shot" (2012).
According to Jagger himself, the song is based on the 2019 session recordings. It is promised that "Living In A Ghost Town" will complement the new album, which the band has been working on since 2015...
In an interview with Beats 1 Radio, Jagger shared:
“... The song tells about a place that was once full of life! But now - it is absolutely devoid of it ... I remember, I just played the guitar, and by itself I composed this text in just 10 minutes. The composition was intended for our new album, on which we worked all our free time at the studios in London and Los Angeles. Why did we decide to finish this track as soon as possible? I think this is obvious in the current situation around the world. The song about "Life in a Ghost Town" resonates with what is happening on the streets of most countries of the world right now ... "
The band considers "Living In A Ghost Town" to be very significant in this situation... In his interview, Jagger also emphasized that some points in the lyrics were changed to better indicate a pandemic.
About the album...
As for the new album, the band members do not waste time in vain! In quarantine, the Rolling Stones are composing new future hits:
“We have five more cool songs in store. Surprisingly, each of them feels spiritual harmony ... Now we have nothing else to do but write a couple more hits, right? Keith Richards said.
"Will the album be good? Nooo... He won't just be good. I want it to be amazing!” - said the band's frontman Mick Jagger.
By the way: Rolling Stone's last studio work was A Bigger Bang, released in 2005.
Having been on the No Filter Tour since 2017, the band was forced to halt their program due to the coronavirus outbreak… On April 18, the Rolling Stones took part in a large online concert, Global Citizen's Together at Home, to raise funds for healthcare workers and the World healthcare organizations in times of crisis. When the pandemic subsides, the musicians plan to resume their tour.
"Releasing a new single is a way to please the fans who can't see us live... Also, it's a good advertisement for the new album!" Jagger said.
