Story of the song "There" (Micah & Jumanji & Inna Still)
Table of Contents
"Tuda" is a song by Russian rapper Mikhey and his band Jumanji, recorded with the participation of Inna Still, a well-known singer and songwriter. The composition was released in 1999, as part of the album "Bitch Love". Pleasant to listen to, it has a relaxing reggae style... Let's remember the history of its creation, as well as talk about Inna Still's contribution, which, for some reason, at the end of the 90's was little recognised....
History of Creation
As it was already mentioned above, the song "There" is generously imbued with Jamaican reggae motifs... It's no secret that there were few bands or musicians developing specifically in this genre on the expanses of the post-Soviet space. However, it was this freedom-loving style that Mikhey and Jumanji got into, and soon they connected Inna Still to their creativity! Inna met Mikhey back in Gala Records, during his work in the band Bad Balance.
Whether it is a real story or just an attractive legend that increases the interest to the work, but according to Inna Still, once she had a dream that fully conveys the atmosphere of the future music video... At the same time someone called the singer: "Still, Still!". By the way: Inna herself did not immediately realise that the message was addressed to her....

And so, soon she and Micah wrote this amazingly light and beautiful song, which quickly found a response in the hearts of listeners... Of course, the music video played no small role in popularising the track. Today, when Inna Still's name is on many people's lips, it may seem strange... However, when the clip was first broadcast, no one recognised the charming girl! Many decided that the blonde beauty was nothing more than a secondary character for the entourage. Moreover! At first she was not even in the credits... Nevertheless, it was Inna who was the author of the heartfelt song! And perhaps it is because of her influence that it is difficult to classify this song as a rap song. It is something else, something more airy... The lyrics of the song are addressed to a loved one who died in a car crash. As you can guess, the song was dedicated to Inna's husband, who was killed in a car crash... When the singer Micah was gone, the song took on a more dramatic tone....
"To where you weren't expecting... To where the sorrows are... To where the forgotten are... To where nowhere, nowhere, nowhere..."
A little about Inna Still....
Inna Still is not just a musician, of whom there are thousands, if not millions nowadays... She is a brilliant person, who has had more than one hit! However, when she was under the wing of "Gala Records", the label considered really beautiful songs of the girl to be not hit enough... Actually, it often happens with creative people: sometimes people, deprived of musical taste, are unable to appreciate their creativity. And now, with the release of the song "Tuda", recorded together with Mikhey, the girl started to be noticed.
The singer was born in Voronezh. The love for music woke up in Inna in her early childhood... At the age of 17 the girl wrote her first song, after which she went to the capital! Inna was aimed at success! Soon the girl found herself in a music company, with which she signed a contract. But there was no success... Then Inna decided to devote herself to building a solo career. It is known that in parallel Inna co-operated with popular bands and musicians, created high-quality arrangements...
Later, Inna Still moved to Europe, where she worked on musical projects (also for films) for a long time. Returning to her homeland, the woman continued to give concerts. Today she is talked about as a legend of the 90s, a talented musician and author of heartfelt songs....
Album "Bitch Love"
As mentioned above, the composition "Tuda" was released as part of the album "Bitch Love", recorded by Mikhey together with his band Jumanji. The record was released in May 1999 on the REAL Records label. The album quickly gained popularity among the listeners! The main hits from it became compositions - "Bitch Love", "Tuda" and "Mama". Micah himself was recognised as the best performer of the year... By the way: the song "Road to the Sea" was not Micah's creation. It was just a cover of Yuri Antonov's composition. Later the artist told:
"I recorded this song with Yuri Mikhailovich's permission. However, he did not warn us that the lyrics of this song did not belong to him, but to Leonid Fadeev... Antonov himself wrote only the music. To say that we were shocked when we learnt about it is not to say anything. But it was too late to fix anything... A batch of discs had already gone on sale. On the rest of the discs, we've put everything correctly. I think nobody took offence! And in general - I like Antonov's music very much. It brings a pleasant nostalgia for my favourite 70s...".
It is a curious fact, but at first Antonov rejected Mikhey's proposal. But after listening to the band's songs, he quickly changed his mind... As a result, the only album released during Mikhey's lifetime turned out to be so splendid that it was even named one of the best of the past decade!
Conclusion...
Having left this world untimely, Mikhey emphasised more than once that he always lacked the very melody that always beckoned him... In the end, he found it in the composition "There". This song was performed in 1999 at the festival "Nashestviye-1999". Subsequently it became a real hit: it was played on all radio stations, and the album, on which it was released, was instantly sold out of the shops! And today, several decades later, this song is still very popular!
