The story of Queen's massive concert - Live in Budapest (1986) - Queen's Magic in Budapest
Содержание
This colourful event has been forever imprinted on the pages of world music history. In 2012, the film "Queen's Magic in Budapest" was released. The film shows how the legendary performance of the British band took place at one of the largest stadiums "Nepstadion"....
Arrival in Budapest (Hungary)
Queen arrived in Budapest on a "rocket" - a special vessel with "hydrofoils".
After a fun ride along the Danube River, the team steps on the pier... Freddy is wearing a spectacular T-shirt with a colourful print, his trademark red trousers and matching white sneakers.
Fans and journalists did not retreat from the band even one step! All along the way, the musicians tried to escape from raging fans, yellow press reporters and TV cameramen...
Tired of all the fuss Freddie declared:
"...I prefer to leave politics to the blokes who get paid handsomely to dig into it! By God!"
Upon arrival at the embassy, the leader of the already legendary Queen clearly felt out of place. The team was surrounded by various high dignitaries....
To the world, he announced:
"I don't know about you, but I'm going shopping!"
In fact, that's what he did. Freddie and his team went to a local antiques shop, where the musician spent a long time looking at paintings and... some strange glass object!
Concert preparation
...Preparations for the concert began. Of course, they did not do without alcohol - so to speak, to raise morale!
The stage at Budapest's Nepstadion was erected very quickly! When Freddie climbed on it to rehearse the number, it was already magic! His voice echoed throughout the stadium in a powerful, but very pleasant way....
...Twilight descended on the beautiful and romantic city of Hungary... In a matter of moments, the stands and the stadium field itself were filled with tens of thousands of spectators. In total - the number of people gathered exceeded 80,000!
Beginning of the concert
When John Deacon, Brian May, Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury took the stage, something solemn and exciting happened at the same time! Moments were replaced by Eternity... People were thrilled! This show remained forever in their minds as an extravaganza... Unfortunately - Queen never gave such a concert again.
The group left Hungary as heroes! Before leaving, one of the journalists asked:
"Will you ever come to visit us again?"
"If I'm alive," Freddie replied.
At that time, at the end of July 1986, none of the legendary musician's comrades knew that Magic was the last tour of his life...
