The story of Queen's massive concert - Live in Budapest (1986) - Queen Magic in Budapest
This bright event was forever imprinted on the pages of the history of world music. In 2012, the film "The Magic of Queen in Budapest" was released. The picture shows how the legendary performance of the British band took place at one of the largest stadiums "Nepstadion"...
Arrival in Budapest (Hungary)
Queen arrived in Budapest on a "rocket" - a special vessel with "hydrofoils".
Having merrily swept along the Danube River, the team steps onto the pier… Freddie is wearing a spectacular T-shirt with a bright print, branded red trousers and snow-white sneakers to match them.
Fans and journalists did not step back from the group! Throughout the journey, the musicians tried to escape from the raging fans, tabloid reporters and cameramen ...
Tired of all this turmoil, Freddie said:
“...I prefer to leave politics to the guys who get paid well for digging in it! By God!”
Upon arrival at the embassy, the leader of the already legendary Queen clearly felt out of place. The team was surrounded by various high dignitaries ...
He loudly announced:
“I don’t know about you, but I’m going shopping!”
In fact, that's what he did. Freddie and his team went to a local antiques shop, where the musician looked at the paintings and… some strange glass object for a long time!
... Preparations for the concert began. Of course, they did not do without alcohol - so to speak, to raise morale!
The stage at the Nepstadion in Budapest was erected very quickly! When Freddie climbed on it to rehearse the number, it was already magic! His voice was heard in all parts of the stadium with a powerful, but very pleasant echo ...
…Twilight descended on the beautiful and romantic city of Hungary… Tens of thousands of spectators filled the stands and the field of the stadium in a matter of moments. In total, the number of participants exceeded 80,000!
When John Deacon, Brian May, Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury took the stage, something solemn and exciting happened at the same time! Moments were replaced by Eternity… People were delighted! This show forever remained enchanting in their minds ... Unfortunately, Queen has never given such a concert again.
The group left Hungary as heroes! Before leaving, one of the journalists asked:
"Will you ever visit us again?"
“If I live,” Freddie replied.
Then, at the end of July 1986, none of the comrades of the legendary musician knew that Magic was the last tour in his life ...
