Led Zeppelin - Concert at O2 Arena (Band Reunion - 2007)
Table of Contents
On 10 December 2007, Led Zeppelin stage one concert at the O2 Arena in London. It's the biggest reunion in rock history. John Bonham's son Jason plays drums, critics and fans are ecstatic, the playing is triumphant!
After Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder of Atlantic Records and respected boss for many bands, died on 14 December 2006, his widow Mika asked Robert Plante if he would consider getting the band together for one concert to benefit the "Ertegun Education Foundation", which provides funding for students who study music in college.
Plante, never nostalgic for the group, agreed to the request. After that, the wind blew into the sails and there was no stopping the boat - it was inevitable. The other three musicians jumped on board just as easily, and in May 2007 they gathered for a secret rehearsal, which went well enough to mean only one thing: the show would happen!
On 12 September, the concert was announced. 18,000 tickets were drawn in an online lottery. The virtual queue of people wanting to get in sometimes exceeded the 20 million mark! The nominal value of a ticket is $255, but scalpers (stock exchange traders who use a scalping trading strategy to make a profit) took 2000$ for them.
It was the third time the three living members of Led Zeppelin took the stage after the death of John Bonham, who passed away in 1980. The first was Live Aid in 1985, where they gave a failed three-song show with two different drummers, Phil Collins and Tony Thompson. In 1988, with Jason Bonham on drums, they organised a special 40th Anniversary concert performance for Atlantic Records. This attempt was much more thoroughly rehearsed. It was preceded by three weeks of focused preparation.
Now it was a full-length concert consisting of 16 songs, including all-time favourite hits such as 'Stairway To Heaven', 'Kashmir' and 'Rock And Roll'....
The concert was great!
After the concert, fans hoped the band would organise a tour. But at the time, Plant was already touring with Alison Krauss. In October 2007, the pair released Raising Sand, which won a Grammy nomination for album of the year. Rehearsals took place without him. The three musicians got together in the studio in 2008 and toyed with the idea of touring with another vocalist, but no one could replace Plant.

However, Plant was adamant, he had no desire to perform with Led Zeppelin and was fully immersed in solo projects. That's why the band never got together for their 50th anniversary. However, they prepared a surprise for the fans.
