History of Our Song (2020) – Willie Nelson (Willie Nelson)
The magnificent Willie Nelson presented to the public at the beginning of 2020 the new composition “Our Song” from his studio album “First Rose of Spring”, which was released on April 24, 2020.
"Our Song" was written by Chris Stapleton, who has performed frequently with Nelson over the past few years. "I can say with confidence that Willie Nelson is a performer who has had a huge impact on my music," said Stapleton. "There's nothing better than listening to him sing a song I wrote."
Our Song is the second track from the new record, which Willy presented to the public. This is a light-filled ballad in which the 86-year-old singer-songwriter talks about looking back on his long life and drawing strength from love and friendship throughout his existence.
In this time that I've been given/To fill my life with living (For the time I was given to fill my existence with life) Willie Nelson sings in the opening section. And then continues I hope I've done the best that I can do (I hope I did the best I could).
Our Song is not the first time Nelson and Stapleton have crossed paths on a record. Chris recorded a cover version of Willy's 1982 track Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning, which was included on Stapleton's album From A Room: Volume 1, released by musician in 2017.
Stapleton and Nelson were scheduled to play together at the new Texas Rangers baseball stadium in Arlington at the end of March 2020. But the event was another “victim” of the coronavirus. The concert has been rescheduled for the end of the year.
