"Where Did You Go?" - a joint single by Jax Jones and MNEK, which was created in the 80s eurodance genre: official video, history of creation
Producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Jax Jones on February 4, 2022 released a new track called "Where Did You Go?" featuring a vocalist MNEK.
Grammy-nominated artists team up to make a cult genre sound eurodance, which originated in the late 1980s and reflected a collective desire to have fun and be happy after a period of strife in Europe.
An optimistic track that stays in the head for a long time reflects the mood of the authors. The lyrics say touching a story about looking for a girl who left him alone on the dance floor as MNEK sings:
"I tried to find you but words can't describe you/Baby, only one dance ain't enough."
Which translates to:
"I tried to find you, but words can't describe you / Baby, one dance is not enough."
The release is accompanied by a humorous music video in which Jones DJs and makes smooth moves with imperturbable facial expressions as archival footage of old raves and club nights plays behind him.
"This song is a little different from mine," Jones said in a press release. I love experimenting with my sound. I hope, you like it!"
This isn't the first time Jones and MNEK have joined forces. In 2016 they worked together on one of Jones' earliest hits. house work and since then wrote many songs together.
Jones also released singles last year Feels and "Crystallise" featuring Jem Cook. He also worked with Joel Corry, Charlie XCX and Saweetie over the single "Out", which was 11 weeks in the Top 10 chart UK and to date the official video for the song has gained more than 250 million views.
