How Eric Clapton ended up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times ...

On 6 March 2000, Eric Clapton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the only person to be honoured three times. The ceremony was held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.

Eric Clapton was previously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band Cream in 1993 and in 1992 - as part of the Yardbirds.

Individual musicians or bands are only eligible for the Hall 25 years after the release of their first album. Accordingly, Clapton can be in the Hall 4 more times, as he is a member of several bands: "John Mayall's Blues Breakers, Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends and Derek & The Dominos.
