British soul singer and guitarist, Michael Kiwanuka has triumphed at the annual Mercury Prize 2020! The award is given to the best album released in the UK and Ireland. And... the "KIWANUKA" record left behind the work of stars such as Dua Lipa, Laura Marling, Stormzy and many, many more!
"It just doesn't fit in my head! Music is my life, my passion... And I'm over the moon! I've almost resigned myself to the fact that I'm not going to win this year... And I've already prepared myself for the fact that if that happens, I'll probably never win again...".

Well, Michael's win proves that all is not yet lost for modern music... His album 'KIWANUKA' sees the light of day in November 2019. And you know what? There's no excuse not to listen to it! The track "Hero" alone is already worthy of a win! However, - we offer a brief look at the record...
"KIWANUKA": A little bit about the album...
The record is an interesting mix of genres such as soul, R&B, disco and funk... Throughout the album, the music changes: it's tender and then it hardens, turns inside out and knots up in a 70's entourage....
The "gems" of the album are the tracks "Pianoi Joint" and "Hero": Michael has given them a deep meaning, a unique atmosphere and mood... If "Pianoi Joint" embodies human faith, "Hero" has a screen incarnation that cannot be missed to understand the essence of the question "Am I a hero?".

Through his tracks Michael easily talks to the listener: his dialogue is simple and clear, it has no time limits, even though the language is modern... Everyone can understand what the song is about. The main thing is to let it into your mind.

It's worth paying tribute to Michael's impeccable balance between cheerfulness and decadence, without sacrificing the seriousness of the message... Thanks to the clever arrangement of the songs, the album sounds like a whole.
The album received the highest praise from five prestigious publications at once, and even praise from extremely stingy journalists...
Will "KIWANUKA" become a classic of the 21st century? Only time will tell, but most likely, unequivocally yes.
As a reminder, Michael has previously been nominated twice for the Mercury Prize 2020.
