Justus Bennetts and GAYLE have released the single "Don't Trip" and will embark on their first tour in March
Justus Bennetts, who is known for blending hip-hop and rock into his tracks, has released the single "Don't Trip" with GAYLE. Bennetts and GAYLE also produced the music video for the track, which was directed by Lilly Wojick. He also made music videos for the songs, "X-Lovers," "Baby Goth" and "Young Bombs ft. Aloe Blacc." Based on the emotion behind the original song, the two friends relaxed at an old-school diner (filmed at Cindy's Eagle Rock in Los Angeles), creating a dance party in the kitchen.
The track features honest lyricism over an alt-pop instrumental, touching on themes of loneliness and indecision.
I used to want to have a conversation every night, would always search for someone to fill the hole in my life.
Which translates to:
I used to want to talk every night, always looking for someone to fill a hole in my life," Bennetts sings.
GAYLE adds in the song:
All my friends keep hitting me up, they're sick of waiting for replies
Which translates to:
All my friends keep hitting me, they're tired of waiting for answers.
The year 2021 was a banner year for Bennetts as he found success with songs like "Cool Kids" and "Bad Day." With just seven singles, the 21-year-old performer racked up more than 120 million listens.
Before Covid happened I didn't take my music seriously, it was more of a hobby," Bennetts told Indiana University WIUX Radio October 2021. - I've been writing music since I was 14 years old, but I would record music from time to time and then in my bedroom I didn't stop to record any material until Covid gave me a chance.
GAYLE has also distinguished herself with a special achievement in creativity. Her recent track "abcdefu" entered the top ten songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Bennetts and GAYLE will perform on ten tours beginning in March. The BottleRock Festival, which will take place in Napa Valley on May 27, will also be part of this programme.
