London-based artist Nilüfer Yanya has shared a new song 'The Dealer' from her upcoming album "PAINLESS": Clips, tour announcement
"The dealer," which premiered named "The hottest record in the world" on BBC Radio 1, is an upbeat, rhythmic track featuring Nilufer's vocals. What Nilufer has to say about the new single:
When I wrote this song, I was thinking about the transitory nature of life and the cyclical nature of the seasons. I'm interested in how we associate certain memories and feelings with different seasons and tend to return to them again and again, however our lives move in a more linear fashion and even when we feel like going back, we never go back. Musically, the track is a bit more playful and relaxed.
Along with the release of "the dealer" by Nilufer Janja. dispatches on their 2022 world tour, next week with shows in the UK and Ireland starting in Glasgow on 10 March and ending at London's Electric Brixton on 16 March. All of these shows will take place before the North American tour, kicking off with Coachella in April.
"The dealer" came right after three other tracks from the album "PAINLESS": "anotherlife," which was released with the musical video shot by Molly Daniel in Sri Lanka, "midnight sun," which Pitchfork declared their "Best New Track" and described as one of Nilufer's "most powerful works," and "stabilise," which Paste Magazine noted "bodes well for big things on Yani's new album."
"anotherlife" is mid-tempo A track with synthesisers, guitar and intertwining vocal melodies. Nilufer shares the meaning of the piece:
The essence of the song is about coming to terms with things and accepting that this is where you are. However, the phrase "I'll do anything" hints at a desperate desire to communicate that.
Created by Nilufer's sister, Molly Daniel, visual effects for "anotherlife" show Nilufer on holiday in Sri Lanka in beautiful clothes in a prismatic and lush location under sun and moonlight.
