London artist Nilüfer Yanya has shared the new song "The Dealer" from her upcoming album «PAINLESS»: Clips, tour announcement
"The dealer," which premiered called "The hottest record in the world" on BBC Radio 1, is an upbeat, rhythmic composition featuring Nilufer's vocals. What Nilufer says about the new single:
When I wrote this song, I was thinking about the transitory nature of life and the cyclical nature of the seasons. I wondered how we associate certain memories and feelings with different seasons and tend to go back to them over and over again, but our lives move more linearly, and even when we feel like going back, we never go back. Musically, the track is a little more playful and relaxed.
Along with the release of "the dealer," Nilufer Yan sends on its 2022 world tour next week, with concerts in the U.K. and Ireland beginning in Glasgow on March 10 and ending at London's Electric Brixton on March 16. All of these concerts will take place before the North American tour, which kicks off with Coachella in April.
"The dealer" came right after three other tracks from the PAINLESS album: "anotherlife," which was released with by video shot by Molly Daniel in Sri Lanka, "midnight sun," which Pitchfork declared their "Best New Track" and described as one of Nilufer's "most powerful works," and "stabilise," which Paste Magazine noted "bodes well for the new Jani album."
"anotherlife" is mid-tempo track with synths, guitar and intertwining vocal melodies. Nilufer shares the meaning of the piece:
The point of the song is to come to terms with things and accept that this is where you are. However, the phrase "I'll do anything" alludes to a desperate desire to communicate that.
Created by Nilufer's sister, Molly Daniel, visual effects for "anotherlife" shows Nilufer on vacation in Sri Lanka in beautiful clothing in a prismatic and lush place under the sun and moonlight.
