1. Escape from Shawshank (1994)
One of the most inspiring and motivational masterpieces, a great classic for all time! The film follows the life of Andy Dufrene (Tim Robbins), a successful banker who, after being found guilty of a crime he didn't commit, is forced to live a life of imprisonment. There he tries to redeem himself with the help of his good friend Red (Morgan Freeman). This story is a must-see for everyone. Great acting by two of Hollywood's greatest actors.
2. Forrest Gump (1994)
This is another stimulating film, especially for Tom Hanks fans. Hanks plays the main character named Forrest Gump, a unique gentleman with an IQ of 75. We watch as he faces life's challenges and feels increasingly difficult given his IQ. We see him go through two presidential terms: the Vietnam War, Watergate, and more. It is definitely a treat for the viewer, especially Hanks fans, to watch the twists and turns of his personal life.

3. Schindler's List (1993)
Fans of Liam Neeson will definitely watch this film at some point in their lives. It features a riveting performance by Neeson as well as Ben Kingsley. The film focuses on German-occupied Poland during World War II. Schindler (played by Liam Neeson) sees the persecution of his Jewish labour force by the Germans, becomes concerned and decides to help them stay safe.
4. The Green Mile (1999)
This is another wonderful masterpiece from the legendary Tom Hanks. Hanks plays the role of Paul Edgecombe, a guard on death row. His life is affected by one of the inmates with special powers. Paul suffers from a long and severe urinary infection, which the unusual inmate mysteriously helps to cure. The other guards also experience mysterious and unusual cases throughout the film.
5. Green Book (2018)
This film is set in the 1960s when an Italian-American bouncer named Tony Lip (played by Viggo Mortensen) finds himself chauffeured to an African-American classical pianist, Dr Donald Shirley (played by Mahershala Ali). Tony, with skin a different colour from his employer, finds it very difficult to work for such a man, but because of his financial needs, he sees no other option. The duo travel to several cities for Dr Shirley's performance. After seeing the degree of injustice that both races have faced, they begin to respect each other again. Not only that, their shared experiences form an everlasting friendship that essentially changes their lives.
6. Obsession (2014)
This is an unusual film for music lovers around the world. The story follows a passionate young drummer, Andrew (Miles Teller), who is mentored by Fletcher (J.K. Simmons). Fletcher, eager to unlock the boy's hidden potential, is willing to travel to the ends of the earth. Given his excellent performance, music lovers can expect an unusually enjoyable viewing experience.
7. Fight Club (1999)
This is by far the most popular thriller film in the film industry. It is worth noting the great acting of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Norton plays an office worker who suffers from various problems. His insomnia causes him to run into Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), who forms an underground fight club with him to help him vent his frustrations. The wonderful plot twist at the end of the film will leave no one indifferent.
8. The Best Years of Youth (2003)
This film follows the lives of two brothers, Nicola and Matteo Carati, between 1996 and 2000 as they face experiences of varying natures, including the horrors of terrorism and the decline of the political system in Italy called Tangentopoli (Operation Clean Hands); several people join them on their journey.
9. The Social Network (2010)
Who isn't familiar with Facebook these days? Almost everyone uses it on a daily basis. The film is just about this very social media giant. The story follows a young Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) who, while in college, conceives a great idea that later manifests as Facebook. The story covers all the critical moments, presenting Zuckerberg's journey on the big screen.
10. In Pursuit of Happiness (2006)
This is another marvel from Hollywood. The story is about a travelling salesman, Chris Gardener (Will Smith), who gets custody of his son Christopher (played by Jaden Smith) and tries to make a living, albeit unsuccessfully. The film depicts a man's struggle throughout the day, from morning to night: as he tries to achieve his goal. The film is a great source of motivation for one and all!
11. Outcast (2000)
Great performance by Tom Hanks, who plays a Fed-Ex employee. He is stranded on an island after a plane crash. There is no one on the island, so he starts working on himself. Gradually he begins to lose his mind. There is an amazing transformation in Hanks, both physically and mentally. Amazing picture!

12. Remember the Titans (2000)
An excellent film based on true events about interracial differences and student athletes trying to deal with them. The story is about an athletic coach, Herman Boone (played by Denzel Washington), who is hired as a football coach at a college that has recently formed a high school team made up of students of different races. The team is in need of a mentor as they are still quite green. The players face many challenges and frustrations, which leads to racially motivated fights. Boone, however, helps them overcome their differences to the point where they all become friends for the rest of their lives. Recommended!
