The series "Cyber Village": filming, music, reviews
Содержание
In 2020, a YouTube video about... Russian cyber village! The protagonist of the video - farmer Nikolaiwho lives on Mars in the year 2100. The video quickly gained its first million views, and soon the public began literally demanding a sequel from the creators. As a result, the mock project grew into a full-fledged series, which started in 2023. Now "Cybervillage" has a score of 8.1 on Kinopoisk, which, you must agree, is very good for a modern domestic series - in addition, in the cyberpunk genre.
"Cyberderevnya" combines ordinary Russian backwoods with robots, locations familiar to everyone with advanced technology and a pinch of quality humour. The project was so phenomenal that it was loved by even Americans! Actually - in today's article we propose to find out together how western friends respond to our series, as well as where the shooting took place and how the creators managed to interpret the folk motifs in a new "cyberpunk" way....
"A story about real things": plot and inspiration
As we have already noted above, the series tells about a Russian farmer Nikolai, who lives a on the Mars of the future. All agricultural work has long been done by robots, although the locations refer us to the familiar Russian hinterland... Suddenly on the "Ryazan County" The businessman Baragozin intends to destroy the farm and buy the whole village in order to build a factory in its place... And this is where the whole plot begins: now Nikolai has to protect his life's work.
At first glance, it may seem that this is a series with no meaning: just a futuristic fiction created to entertain the sophisticated viewer. This is partly true, but after watching the first episode, it becomes obvious that this is a futuristic fiction created to entertain the sophisticated viewer. real things. There is such a simple man as Nikolai, and there is such a rich and powerful Baragozin, who solves all issues with money. Doesn't it remind you of an ordinary life situation? As the creators themselves admitted:
"You shouldn't take this series too seriously. But it's not without meaning. It is about the life of ordinary people, and we tried to tell it in simple language...".
It's this one accessible subtext and made Cyberderevnya so popular - as well as good humour and truly "native" landscapes. Despite the fact that the plot develops somewhere in the cyber future, we see an ordinary province, a village, and these expanses cause a special nostalgia in all Russian viewers: who has not been to his grandmother's village at least once? And due to this unusual contrast - technology and fields, robots and tractors - the overall picture looks even more attractive and interesting.
By the way: some critics have noted a clear inspiration from such old classics as "Love and Doves" and "Kalina Krasnaya".as well as "Alien" and "Blade Runner." (that's the futuristic part). It sounds like complete madness, but the idea was so competently realised and presented that it turned out to be something unique, peculiar and yet heartwarming. As we think - the creators deserve praise at least for this reason, because nothing of this kind has ever been created by the domestic cinema....
Music: folk motifs with an ultra-modern twist.
A project like this has music to match corresponding - also combining something old, folk, and at the same time ultra-modern. Strange as it may seem, the creators of the Cyber Village have managed this seemingly impossible task as well. In the video from 2020, they also played "Russian Cyber Folk Song" performed by Liliana Bush, who left no one indifferent.
"There was an android sitting on the ground with its head down.
What does a robot yearn for? From upgrading a new..."
As users wrote in the comments:
"This is brilliant! I don't know what you guys have been drinking, but this is the most interesting approach to the project..."
In general, the whole Cyber Village soundtrack. is built on the idea of humans and robots clashing - as in the case of the song "Heart." (in collaboration with rap group Albatross).
"Music is a great way to emphasise the differences between humans and 'cold' machines...," commented the creators themselves.
"Native Village": a filming location that many people recognised
Filming took place in Ryazan regionIn particular, in the village of Kisva (it was there that the first viral video for YouTube was shot). And soon many viewers began to recognise the "native landscapes". Word Sergei Chikhachev (aka Farmer Nicholas):
Soon after the video was released, people started writing to us, saying, "This is my home village, I recognise my native land. Someone's parents live there, someone just had a childhood memory... I was surprised how many people were impressed by it: it was nice to realise that just one video can awaken so many warm feelings in people...".
The series itself has already been filmed in different parts of Russia - from the Moscow region to Kamchatka. So - to some extent, it has become "native" to almost the whole of Russia!
Americans are blown away
So what's the deal with the Americans? Actually, this clip of them is very snagged... Western viewers liked this contrast, as well as a truly Russian sense of humour, with which every frame is full of. Some commented on the beauty of a "cybernational" song (I wonder how many Americans understood her translation?). Anyway - there are almost as many English-language comments under the YouTube video as there are ours. Here are some of them:
"Gentlemen creators of this film, CONGRATULATIONS on the production!!! The smile never leaves my face. Everything about this film was beautiful and the humour...a masterpiece! I would love to work on a farm like this and help with cheese production. Bravo, bravo, bravo!"
"Wow man, awesome graphics!!! And that Russian folk song! I just love Russia! I hope to come here one day..."
"It seems like a ploy to get me to move to Russia and become a techno farmer..."
"These guys should be Oscars!"
That's just the way it is. Have you seen Cyber Village, and if you have. what impression did she make an impression on you? Share your opinion in the comments, it will be interesting to read....
