Содержание
Bob Marley will forever remain one of the greatest reggae performers in history. Marley's stature and influence as a singer, songwriter and international pop culture prophet has only grown since his passing. His artistic fearlessness and social commitment remain an inspiration to activists, musicians, and simply devoted fans. His freedom struggle songs have become universal anthems. Mikal Gilmore he wrote:
"Marley sang of tyranny and anger, of cruelty and apocalypse in seductive tones rather than dissonant ones. He was a master of voluptuous rebellion..."
His inspirational music lives on 40 years after his death, and the songs below are just a sampling of his finest achievements Bob Marley and The Wailers.. So, these are the reggae icon's major hits....
"One Love/People Get Ready"
This song was originally recorded by Bob Marley and The Wailers in the 1965 year. The track was later reworked and included on the 1977 album Exodus. "One Love/People Get Ready" contains elements of the song "The Impressions", hence the double title. It was the reworked version that achieved success and became one of Marley's biggest hits for the late 70s!
Many people are familiar with this composition thanks to television: "One Love/People Get Ready" can often be heard in films, the most prominent examples being the films of "Marley and Me" (2008) and "One Love" (2003)..
"Sun is Shining"
Today. "Sun is Shining" - is one of Bob Marley's biggest hits! Surprisingly, the composition did not have much success during the artist's lifetime... It is also one of the earliest recordings of the song "The Wailers" with Lee Perry.:
Apparently, in Marley's lifetime. "Sun is Shining" really wasn't popular. Otherwise, how else to explain the fact that only a few live performances with her have been documented? We also suggest to enjoy a great remix:
"Jamming."
This song contains the line: "No bullet can stop us now". The phrase is a reference to the incident 3 December 1976.Marley and his musicians were wounded by unknown gunmen who broke into the singer's house and opened fire! Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, and soon the idol of millions returned to his usual way of life....
"Redemption Song"
"Redemption Song." couldn't help but make our list! Last track from the album "Uprising," "Redemption Song," remains one of Marley's greatest works... Curiously, some of the song's key points are borrowed from the speaker's speech Marcus Garveywho was also a native of Jamaica.
Today. "Redemption Song" is deservedly ranked among the 500 greatest songs of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
"Waiting in Vain"
Composition from the album "Exodus."which reached the UK top 30 shortly after its release. It was a major breakthrough for Marley and his band.....
This song has been the inspiration for many artists, such as the Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics.: its 1995 version was a definite success with the public.
"I Shot the Sheriff"
One of Marley's most famous masterpieces, "I Shot the Sheriff" remains a resounding anthem to this day, even though the song is almost 50 years old! The story is told on behalf of a man who killed a corrupt local sheriff, but was falsely accused of killing a deputy sheriff....
Over the years, the popularity of this composition has grown rapidly. Many famous artists have presented their interpretations, including Eric Clapton.
"Get Up Stand Up."
A 1973 song from the album "Burnin'."written by Marley and co-written Peter Tosh. The composition was not an immediate hit, but gradually gained momentum until it was inducted into the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame in the late 90s:
Inspired by the poverty and life of Haitians, this song often accompanied Marley's live performances: the heartfelt lyric usually closed the concerts. "Get Up Stand Up." was the last song that Marley performed live: it happened 23 September 1980. in Pittsburgh.
"Stir It Up."
Recorded in 1967 year, "Stir It Up." was the first for Marley and "The Wailers" a hit outside of America. However, the real fame came to this song after Johnny Nash released his cover version.
"Turn Your Lights Down Low"
"Turn Your Lights Down Low" was the only song on the B side of the "Exodus" album that was never released as a single. The track was later re-released as an updated duet with Lauryn Hill from the Fugees. This version was an international hit in the late 90's!
"Three Little Birds"
A heartfelt composition of "Exodus."which has been sung by many famous artists!
The true source of inspiration remains in question: according to some reports, "Three Little Birds" was inspired by real birds that often sang near Marley's house and which the artist loved very much. The three backing singers "The Wailers" claimed the song was addressed to them.
"Satisfy My Soul"
Another great Marley song on our list. It's on the album "Kaya" 1978 years, and over the years has found its listener.....

A heartfelt song from the latest album "Uprising" 1980 of the year. The idea "Could You Be Loved" originated in the late '70s on board an aeroplane, when "The Wailers" actively experimented with the guitar. As a result, the composition entered the UK top 5 and inspired many performers to do their own covers!
"Buffalo Soldier"
Today. "Buffalo Soldier" is known as a Bob Marley classic, but the composition was not released on records until its posthumous release "Confrontation" 1983 of the year.
The title and lyric refer to black cavalry regiments U.S.A.known as "Buffalo Soldiers."who fought in the Indian wars after the war. 1866 of the year. Marley likened their struggle to a general struggle for survival.
