Shocking Blue - Best Songs by the Band (Shocking Blue)

On the great band's most loved and beautiful hits.....

Top 20 of the band's most popular hits Shocking Blue.

Shocking Blue is one of the most beautiful bands that the twentieth century gave to the world... The creativity of the Dutch band had a great influence on the further development of music, and the image of Mariska Veresch is still the main embodiment of the carefree and bright 1970s! We offer you to remember how the most famous hits of this amazing band were created!

Shocking Blue - Send Me A Postcard (1970)

Performer: Shocking Blue
Album: Scorpio's Dance
Release date: 1970.
Genre: Rock

Let's start not with the most popular, but certainly famous and very much a chic track, in which Marishka sings: "Send me a postcard, darling..." This energetic composition was written by Robbie van Leeuwen. It was released in 1968.

In general, Mariška Veres had a unique ability to energise any song with a strong, driving mood. Despite the slightly lyrical message, "Send Me A Postcard" is encouraging. Definitely one of the best Shocking Blue creations....

Shocking Blue - Beggin' (1974)

Performer: Shocking Blue
Album: Good Times
Release date: 1974.
Genre: Rock

This easily catchy, one might even say - unceremoniously crashing into the brain with its chorus is a song many people know! It was originally written by Peggy Farina, with music by Bob Gaudio. But... when it was performed by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons in the winter of 1967, it was never a success.

And now, after a dozen years, Shocking Blue remembered it! Marishka Veresh's rendition of the once forgotten track became a big hit! The song "Beggin'" came out of every receiver!

And how many covers were later recorded to it... For example, one of the most successful and popular is "Beggin'" performed by the Norwegian duo Madcon:

Curiously enough, in the original lyrics of the song the narration is in the person of a man. Shocking Blue's version was changed to Marishka: the word "king" was changed to "queen" and so on... That's the feeling when the cover surpassed the original! Soon everybody forgot about the fact that "Beggin'" was once composed by Peggy Farin... How cruel is the music business....

Shocking Blue - Venus (1969)

Performer: Shocking Blue
Album: At Home
Release date: 1969.
Genre: Rock

And lastly, the "cherry on the cake", namely, the legendary "Shizgara"! Of course, the original name of the song is quite different - "Venus". But the tune "She's got it" did its job, and after its release for Soviet listeners "Verena" turned into the mysterious "Shizgara"!

This song became Shocking Blue's biggest hit and sold 8 million copies worldwide! To this day, listeners remember and love this song... More than one generation grew up on it, and I want to believe that its popularity is still in its infancy....
