The best drum intros in rock: list, artists, facts
Содержание
Guitar solos and bass riffs are perhaps the most talked about components of any rock hit. If a song becomes popular, these elements take on separate life, become self-sufficient: they are attempted by millions of players who want to try their luck, used as improvisations and even given new life through plagiarism, which is often a tribute to favourite classic idols....
Drummers and everything that goes with it are often overshadowed by the glory: these are the guys who, when they join a band, sign up to sit behind their colleagues and enjoy a little ray of spotlight... But that doesn't mean their role isn't important! In fact, it's great injustice in the world of rock (as far as we are concerned), and drummers deserve much more respect and admiration, or at least articles. Speaking of the latter: today we bring to your attention the six awesome drum intros in rock! Of course, this list could go on for a very long time, so post your examples of cool intros in the comments and we'll get started!
Motörhead - Overkill (1979)
This track is totally in the spirit of the great Lemmy Kilmisterbecause it can only be described as explosive and extravagant! The jewel of the album of the same name, as well as of all live performances MotörheadThis track starts with an invigorating drum intro that makes you want to stomp your feet! Then the bass comes in, and the track gets incredibly juicy and expressive shades in terms of sound....
Lemmy and the drummer Phil Taylor worked together just flawlessly! The latter is to be commended: he perfectly maintains the rhythm and driving tempo of the song, creating the perfect atmosphere for Lemmy and his bass... Years later, the track became a true classic of the time and genre, and many cool rock bands, including Metallica, recorded their own covers of it. "Overkill.". But of course, surpassing the original, and even more so when it comes to Lemmy and his Motörhead band, seems simply impossible....
Rush - Tom Sawyer (1981)
One of the greatest tracks of the Canadians' career. Rush! At the very beginning we are greeted by some incredible cosmic and even psychedelic atmosphere, which gradually starts to develop and turn into a beautiful piece of music.
It's safe to say that Neil Peart has done his best here! Yes, there may be tracks with more roaring and dynamic intros in the band's catalogue. But this is the one we chose "Tom Sawyer," why? Because it sounds incredibly beautiful and sophisticated... Pirt always picked the perfect drum part for any experimental track that the rest of his Rush bandmates dared to go for. And in this he was unrivalled!
Judas Priest - Painkiller (1990)
Now that we've relaxed, it's time to cheer up! And that's where the rebels will help us Judas Priest! "Painkiller" is one of their craziest and most popular songs from the album of the same name, which you can safely put on your alarm clock: from such a drum intro you'll not only wake up quickly, but you'll be invigorated! Scott Travis gave his best here - when the song starts with his beats, you immediately get the feeling that something crazy is about to happen... And it's true.
After graduation. "Painkiller." was a smash hit and brought the band a huge number of new fans. It is considered by most to be a jewel in the Judas Priest catalogue, and guitarist Glenn Tipton admitted that the solo from Painkiller is among his personal favourites.
Rainbow - Stargazer (1976)
Once again, we go from a roaring drive to something more sophisticated and fantasticalto something that goes by the name of. "Stargazer.". I'm talking, of course, about one of the most famous hits Rainbow. In general, everything about this song is great: Ronnie James Dio's performance, Ritchie Blackmore's playing, and the lyrics that paint incredible stories in the imagination:
"In the heat and in the rain,
With whips and chains,
To see him fly.
A lot of people are dying.
We're building a stone tower
On our flesh and bones.
Just to see him fly.
But I don't know why.
Now where are we going to head?"
But in the context of this particular article of ours, we just have to give credit for it Cosy Powell - the person whose name is least often mentioned when it comes to "Stargazer". Half of this track was made by him, because he is the one who sets the tone for it at the very beginning.
Sweet - Ballroom Blitz (1973)
A delightful track from the band Sweet! Amazing intro, which charges the whole song with a special, uplifting energy... It makes you want to start dancing to this song. glam rock 'n' roll! No wonder that this composition has not lost its popularity to this day: "Ballroom Blitz." attracts not only the "oldies" but also the younger generation. And we think it's great that classic rock is still on the wave of success.
Undeniably: Mick Tucker was a great drummer. His contributions and legacy will always carry weight.....
Queen - We Will Rock You (1977)
And lastly, truly. royal intro.
Although it's not a traditional drum part, it's still one of the most recognisable percussion intros in rock music, so it would be negligent if we didn't include it on the list. We hope our selection cheered you up!
