Reasons why Tsoi didn't like Talcov ...
Содержание
For several decades now, fans of Tsoi and Talcov have been asking the truly sensitive question: "Why didn't Tsoi like Talcov?". Viktor Tsoi is a Russian rock legend and leader of the iconic band Kino. His songs continue to sound like thundering anthems to this day: after so many years, they have not lost their relevance, but just the opposite - have found new life thanks to the modern generation of listeners... Igor Talkov is no less famous figure of the Russian music scene. His songs are also remembered and loved... Both musicians performed in the same period. Both sang about what was very close to every listener. Both tragically died in the early 90s... So why did they never formed friendly relations?
Today, many people try to draw a parallel between them, to find something in common and unite these people into one whole. But it will not be possible to do this even with the greatest desire... Tsoi did not like Talkov, and also despised his creativity, referring to the USSR... So... to consider Tsoi a friend of Talkov - would be at least disrespectful to the former, or rather - to his Bright memory. So what was the reason for Tsoi's dislike of Talkov, and why did the latter, until the last, speak of Viktor Robertovich in the best possible way (remember that he even dedicated a song to the legend of "Kino")?
Did Tsoi know Talcov?
To begin with, did Tsoi even know Talcov? It is worth noting that there is no specific information about their acquaintance. However, no one excludes the fact that they could have crossed paths at the festival MuzEko-90, where Talcov performed on the same day with the band "Kino". No one will also not be open to the fact that a few years before his death, Viktor Robertovich significantly narrowed the circle of communication. And if Tsoi could include Marina Smirnova, his partner in the film "Needle", in his circle of good acquaintances, then with some musicians he would not have found a point of contact under any circumstances... And one of such musicians was Igor Talkov.
Logically speaking, the frenzied popularity of both musicians could well have contributed to their friendship (and perhaps, in fans' wildest dreams, to fruitful co-operation!) But it didn't happen. And there were reasons for that...
Reasons for dislike...
One of the main reasons why Tsoi disliked Talkov was the lyrics of the latter's songs. According to the musician's relatives, Viktor Robertovich did not like "stolen songs, and moreover, with the theme of the USSR". So, for example, he did not like the composition "Russia", which in the late 80's regularly played on central television. In an interview, Tsoi's wife Marianna recalled:
"When this song came on once again, Vitya said: "What a g...."."
On the contrary, Talkov was very fond of Tsoi's work... He literally admired him! As you know, he really wanted to join the social circle of the leader of "Kino"! However, he did not succeed... When Viktor Robertovich was gone, Talkov even dedicated a song to him. However, this gesture, as well as the song itself, was not liked by the deceased musician's relatives... Some people claimed that in this way Igor Vladimirovich tried, as they say today, to "hype" on someone else's popularity and fame....
Another reason is envy. Of course, not on Tsoi's part, but the other way round. It all started at the MuzEco-90 festival, where Kino and Talkov performed on the same day, on the same stage. At that time, Kino received a colossal ovation from the public, which, accordingly, did not please the other artists... Envy and dislike from the performers seemed to float in the air... Later, Georgy Guryanov, a member of the Kino group, recalled this:
"...It was something with something... Many Soviet artists were performing with us at that time. And I remember how much hatred and envy there was in our direction! It was a very dark energy. It was just monstrous. I felt the angry looks of the singers, but I didn't even look them in the eyes. I just didn't want to catch their gazes... "
However, it was finally confirmed by a concert in Luzhniki, which took place in June 1990. As recalled by the famous Russian journalist Yevgeny Dodolev:
"That day put everything in its place. It was the famous concert in Luzhniki, which was closed by Kino... But the most interesting thing was not to watch what was happening on the stage, but to watch what was happening behind the stage... Backstage! And there stood stunned Russian stars, who cast very heavy glances in the direction of Tsoi's band... The crowd of fans blocked out any sounds, which caused all the artists to ask only one question: "How? How can they do it...?".
And Kino remembered that day well, and the faces of all those present backstage... Including Talkov's face. At the time, Tsoi did not react in any way. He simply drew conclusions for himself and never communicated with those who envied their success....
One last thing...
Despite the fact that Tsoi and Talkov are children of the same time, there were many differences between them... While Tsoi sang about freedom, Talkov sang about Russia, while Tsoi wrote his songs alone with himself, Talkov was caught plagiarising more than once... At the same time, the legendary "I'll be back" is as great and beautiful as "Blood Group".
But there was no friendship between them. Why was that? Was it enmity or animosity? Was it personal hatred or just a lack of interest in someone else's work? Actually, it doesn't make any sense anymore. In any case, these two idols have an army of millions of fans, as well as a rich heritage, which, although different, but unambiguously significant for all of us....
