Ed Sheeran (Ed Sheeran): Best songs

Ed Sheeran's top greatest hits!

Ed Sheeran's top songs!

Ed Sheeran is a widely known British musician, who in just 10 years has made a big name and a fortune! The list of the musician's works was quite difficult to reduce to the very best, because literally every one of his works is beautiful! His fame extends far beyond his native UK... His album "x" became an international bestseller: in just 2 years it sold about 9 million copies worldwide! No fan of this genius will argue: listening to his music instead of seeing him live is not so bad! Especially since each of his songs is just as good as the next... His records are full of variety, which also shows Sheeran as a crazy artist of today (which he actually is)! Today we decided to go through some of his best works... So: these are Ed Sheeran's top coolest hits!

"Sing."

It's Sheeran's big comeback, featuring Pharrell Williams: the track became Ed's first UK number one single since its release in June 2014. The single spent 33 weeks in the top 40: 58.4 million streams and over 600,000 sales made 'Sing' one of the musician's biggest achievements...

"I See Fire"

"I See Fire" is a song written and performed by Sheeran specifically for the film The Hobbit: The Wasteland of Smaug. It reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and was nominated for a Satellite Award and a Grammy (2015) for Best Song Written for Visual Media!

"Shape of You"

This track may not be remembered today... But it's one of Ed's top three hits in the history of his career! Since its release, the track "Shape of You" has been downloaded over 488,500 times! It's also racked up 77.43 million streams....

"Thinking Out Loud."

That romantic slow dance in the clip, featuring Ed portraying the groom in his first dance with his bride, is beautiful... The track finally took the number one spot after 19 weeks in the top 40, securing two inconsistent weeks at the top before spending 20 weeks in the top 10. "Thinking Out Loud" also became the first single to spend an entire year in the top 40 without leaving it. It's Ed's best-selling single with 1.19 million copies sold, and his most streamed with 113 million streams! In fact, "Thinking Out Loud" was the first song to get 500 million listens on Spotify (although the chart only counts those streamed after July 2014).

"The A Team"

Ed's first UK hit of 2011, "The A Team" reached number 3 and spent four weeks there. It continues to make a big impact on Ed's all-time charting. The soulful ballad, which talks about addiction, was released before streaming was counted in the chart, but it was Ed's first million-selling number one, racking up 1.1 million sales, helping it reach number two. Since they started counting streams in mid-2014, it has been listened to 35.2 million times...

"Photograph."

The latest single from his second album, which reached number 15 in the summer of 2015 and was his second most popular song with 73.5 million listeners! Its sales are also impressive: 363200 copies were sold. By the way: the heroine of the song is Ed's then-girlfriend, Nina ...

"Bloodstream."

This intense track tells the story of Sheeran's first introduction to illegal drugs when he was at a friend's wedding in Ibiza.

"It was a wedding and I had a mojito and my friend said: "Do you want to try it? It's a really nasty flavour, but I'll just put it in your drink and it'll be fine!", Sheeran told Spotify in 2014. The heightened emotions evoked at the time are reflected in the lyrics, which depict the guilt Ed felt at the time....

"I felt a lot of things during the whole thing: I felt anxious, I felt love, I felt warm, I felt a little weird," Sheeran said. "And then you spend all day just thinking about what you went through..."

"Castle on the Hill"

Sheeran himself has called it "a love song to Suffolk", and his gently nostalgic lyrics about "running from the law through backroads" and "driving on country roads" back up that statement (a video featuring pupils from Sheeran's former secondary school as actors too...)

"Dive."

"Dive" is a song about falling in love. But the main character is afraid of being hurt and feeling vulnerable. He wants to make sure that she (the lover) feels the same way about him...

"Supermarket Flowers."

This song is called 'Supermarket Flowers' because when Sheeran was cleaning the hospital ward, he found supermarket flowers on the windowsill....

"Perfect."

"Perfect" was released in 2017 and is still one of Ed Sheeran's best songs. It is a song about a couple who fell in love with each other. "Perfect" was the first track Sheeran wrote for his third studio album. The song is a romantic ballad written about his girlfriend, ...

"I Don't Care"

The track "I Don't Care" was released in 2019. It is Sheeran's first release of new music in two years since his March 2017 Grammy-winning album...
