"The Who" will once again perform for their fans in the US and Canada - Tour itinerary, video, photos
The Who have announced a new multi-month tour of North America, which kicks off in Florida in April this year.
The iconic British band will return to the States and Canada for a major tour called "The Who Hits Back!". Speeches were supposed to take place back in 2019, however, at that time, frontman Roger Daltrey needed a throat operation.
The new tour, which will run from April to May and October to November 2022, will feature local orchestras alongside the band. They will help Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townsend recreate classical songs from the likes of Tommy, Quadrophenia and Who's Next, as well as tracks from the 2019 Who album.
On tour will accept participation: drummer Zach Starkey, bassist John Button, guitarist-singer Simon Townsend, keyboardist Lauren Gold, backing vocalist Billy Nicholls, orchestra conductor Keith Levenson, violinist Kathy Jacoby, cellist Audrey Snyder and keyboardist Emily Marshall. You can buy tickets for the tour from February 11, 2022.
Townsend promised that these concerts will not be farewell and the band will continue to create: Roger said that he wants to sing until you drop, " - he said. This is not my life philosophy. There are other things that I still want to do and will do. I hope I live long enough to do this.
But this is not a farewell tour. On top of everything else, we still have people who have tickets for the 2019 UK tour. We really, really want to go on this tour and I think we will do it in 2023. But I'm talking about things I don't really know anything about. I have no guarantees, just like everyone else. I really don't know for sure what will happen next month.
In addition, filming is slated to begin in June for a long-discussed biopic about the band's former drummer Keith Moon. The film will be released under the name "The Real Me". The itinerary of the tour is shown below:
