"The Who" will perform in front of their fans again in the US and Canada - Tour itinerary, video, photos
The Who have announced a new multi-month North American tour, which kicks off in Florida this April.
The iconic British band will return to the States and Canada for a major tour dubbed "The Who Hits Back!". Speeches were due back in 2019, but at the time frontman Roger Daltrey required throat surgery.
The new tour, which will run from April to May and October to November 2022, will see local orchestras performing with the band. They will help Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townsend recreate the classic Songs from artists such as Tommy, Quadrophenia and Who's Next, as well as tracks from the 2019 Who album.
On tour accept featuring: drummer Zak Starkey, bassist John Button, guitarist-singer Simon Townsend, keyboardist Lauren Gold, backing vocalist Billy Nicholls, bandleader Keith Levenson, violinist Katie Jacoby, cellist Audrey Snyder and keyboardist Emily Marshall. Tickets for the tour are available from 11 February 2022.
Townsend promised that these concerts will not be a farewell and the band will continue to create: Roger said that he wants to sing until he drops." - he said. That's not my philosophy of life. There are other things I still want to do and will do. I hope I live long enough to do them.
But this is not a farewell tour. On top of everything else, we still have people who have tickets for the UK tour in 2019. We really, really want to do that tour, and I think we'll do it in 2023. But I'm talking about things I don't really know anything about. I don't have any guarantees, just like everybody else. I really don't know for sure what's going to happen next month.
In addition, a long-discussed biographical film about the band's former drummer Keith Moon is scheduled to begin filming in June. The film will be released under the title "The Real Me". The tour itinerary can be found below:
