The story behind the album Science by the band Krovostok (2021)...
Содержание
"Science" - that's how the group "Krovostok" called its long-awaited album (by the way: the last studio work of the Moscow rap band was released in 2018). The album was released at the end of March 2021, and very quickly garnered the most mixed reviews... Basically, fans of the collective were satisfied. The lyrics did not particularly come to the liking of music lovers who stumbled by chance on the Russian rap novelty 2021! Actually, to taste and colour as they say... Anyway - the work turned out to be quite interesting, and today we will discuss it in more detail! Let's go!
A little about the band...
Despite the fact that the group "Krovostok" was formed back in 2003, today a small number of listeners know about it, we can say - a caste of really devoted fans of their work... The early work of rap-collective was based on lyrical verses, appropriately superimposed on break-beat music. The group released their debut album "River of Blood" in 2004: during the same period, Krovostok began their concert activity...
Success came to the band in 2007, with their hits such as "Dumbbell", "HPP", "Kisa", "Night", "Methadone"... The popularity of "Bloodstock" increased dramatically after the release of the album "Dumbbell" (2008): fans and critics noted that the concept of the work is very similar to the debut "River of Blood", but only with a higher quality sound....
Whether or not Krovostok can be called a modern day "Sector Gaza" in rap style, the group's songs contain foul language (and a lot of it), which, of course, has already become a cause for scandal... The capital's rap group had to endure legal proceedings in 2015, when the Kirovsky District Court of Yaroslavl recognised the lyrics of their songs as "inadmissible for distribution on the territory of the Russian Federation"! The group itself was accused of promoting aggressive, anti-social and anti-personal behaviour... The group members were accused of corrupting the minds of young people by imposing false values... Fortunately for the fans of Krovostok, all charges against the group were dropped and the official website was unblocked.
But back to the album... Let's talk about the meaning and concept of the musical studio work "Science"!
The idea, the meaning...
"Science" - this is the name the group "Krovostok" gave to its seventh studio album. The participants of the rap-band stated that the album, consisting of ten tracks, is able to give many "new knowledge and hope"... It is worth noting that "Science" includes two singles already presented earlier - "In, Out" and "Children"!
The seventh album "Nauka" became the first novelty from the band for the last three years (their last album "CHB" "Krovostok" released in 2018!) Curiously enough, "CHB" was also at one time the first new work of "Krovostok" for the past three years... This is such a curious periodicity, concerning new studio works, is traced in the discography of "Krovostok".
Content, Style...
And now let's talk about the most interesting thing - about the style (in musical terms) and the concept of the album "Science"... We can immediately conclude that this time "Krovostok" decided to turn to their old-school roots! Of course, the fans liked this idea very much... At the same time, "Science" continues the band's journey towards a modern sound (which started back in 2012, with the release of the album "Studen"...).
We can rightfully say that this album has a golden mean, a perfect combination... There is cynicism, crime, and smoothly swinging beat samples that many people love... Perhaps these details were missing from the previous work of "CHB"? Who knows... But with the album "Science" everything is clear for sure: there is a well-thought-out core, well-developed characters and so on. The lyrics can make you smile, and after a few seconds - fear, caused by the realisation that all these stories take place in our world... But this creepy and at the same time alluring realism is the main highlight of "Bloodstock"!
One last thing...
In their new album "Krovostok" several times address the theme of law enforcement agencies, unfolding before the listener amazing stories and circumstances... So, for example, in the first track "Doing" the band members touch upon the theme of torture, and in the track "Major's Heart" it is about a criminal... It is worth adding that in the recording of the seventh album of the band took part Pavel Abramovich (aka Pablo): he is responsible for the bass guitar and the tracks "Major's Heart" and "Koromyslo". In general, all that is left to add in conclusion is that this album is recommended for listening! After all, as "Krovostok" themselves state:
"These are 10 tracks that will give you a lot of knowledge and hope! Good music for different people, enjoy!"
