Содержание
On the night from 10th to 11th February, the 61st Grammy Awards ceremony was held to honour the best musicians of the past year. We'll take a closer look at just a few of the nominations. Let's start our review of this gala event with the Best Rock Song nomination.
This year's nominees were the following performers:
Greta Van Fleet - Black Smoke Rising
American band playing in the genre of hard and blues rock. It appeared on the scene relatively recently - in 2012. It consists of Josh Kizka - vocals, Jake Kizka - guitar, Sam Kizka - bass guitar and Danny Wagner - drums. In the spring of 2017, they were signed to one of the major record labels in the US, Lava Records. A little later the guys released their debut album called "Black Smoke Rising". Many people know this work by the loud single "Highway Tune", which for a long time remained a leader in the top charts of Billboard US Mainstream Rock and Active Rock.
In November 2017, the team pleased fans with the newly released album "From The Fires". It included 4 singles from "Black Smoke Rising" and as many fresh tracks. Along with the album, the band released the hit single "Safari Song".
Twenty One Pilots - Jumpsuit
American musical duo originating in Columbus. As a band, the members rallied together in 2009. The lineup consisted of Tyler Joseph, Josh Dun, Nick Thomas and Chris Salih. But after two years, the last two left the lineup. Today, Joseph and Dan delight fans with melodic and spectacular performances of alternative hip-hop, rap, indie pop, as well as alternative and, if we can say so about this style, classic rock.
Bring Me the Horizon - Mantra
Fans often use the abbreviation BMTH. British band from South Yorkshire, playing in the style of alternative electronic pop-rock. The year of creation was 2004. The members of the rock crew are Oliver Sykes - vocals, Lee Malia - guitar, Matt Nicholls - drums, Matt Keane - bass guitar and Jordan Fish - keys. They are signed to two major record labels, RCA Records and Columbia Records, but the legal validity of their contract with the latter is exclusive to the US.
Ghost - Rats
Heavy metal band based in a Swedish town, Linköping (2006). In 2010, Ghost gave fans a new demo recording with three singles. After that, the vinyl LP "Elizabeth" was released, followed by the debut full-length album titled "Opus Eponymous". The critically acclaimed work became a Grammy nominee, which naturally affected the band's popularity. In 2013 Ghost did a good job, releasing their second album and a couple of covers, with Dave Grohl helping them. In 2014, the public appreciated the new work "Infestissumam". The album went to number one on the Swedish top charts and also won a Grammy Award.
Winner of Best Rock Song 2019 !
St Vincent - Masseduction
Real name Annie Erin Clark. Singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, originally from America. After studying for three years at Berklee High School of Music, Clark began to build her musical career. At first, the girl announced herself in Polyphonic Spree, but later decided to join Sufjan Stevens' touring band. In 2006, under the pseudonym Vincent created her own band.
Many find a special grace and cool style in her work, which harmonises experimental soft rock and electropop with jazz motifs.
