"Again" is one of Lenny Kravitz's most gorgeous ballads, released in 2000 as part of the Greatest Hits compilation. Already fully written, arranged and produced, the song was ready to complete the musician's sixth studio album. However... Kravitz decided that the song did not fit the concept of the album "Lenny".

History of Creation
"Again" is a measured ballad in which Kravitz's character gets caught in a love triangle! The lyrics and music of the song were written by Lenny himself. Set in A major and at a moderate tempo of 84 beats per minute, the song is lyrical and sensual... Kravitz's character sings about being separated from his beloved and wonders if they will ever meet again to give their love another chance....
Remarkably, "Again" was the only new song out of 15 on the Greatest Hits album! In many ways, thanks to this, the record sold 3 million copies! It was the best-selling album of the musician's career!
Music video
The music video for the song was shot by the famous director Paul Hunter. Filming took place in the TriBeCa neighbourhood (New York). By the way: the music video became a leader on MTV and VH1 channels!
Kravitz's lover was played by famous American actress, singer and writer Gina Gershon.

Overall, the ballad "Again" received favourable reviews from music critics. Some of them called the song "magnificent..." In 2001, the composition brought Kravitz a Grammy Award for "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance". By the way: the musician achieved similar success with "Fly Away" and "American Woman".

Commercially, the single was a success. Completing the Hot 10 in seven countries (including the United States, where it reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100), the track became Kravitz's first solo hit in almost nine years!
